About the role
The primary responsibility of the Financial Accountant at Sun Engineering is to ensure that accurate financial information is produced on a timely basis and that the business meets its legal responsibilities for the provision of statutory and other returns across the multiple jurisdictions in which the business operates. This is a hands on role and would suit someone who enjoys working on a variety of projects at the same time, there is an opportunity to automate much of the data input and basic transactional work, demonstratable success in this area previously will be well regarded.
The responsibilities of this role include.
- Establishing sound and dependable financial and reports, including monthly cashflow, profit and loss and balance sheet for individual entities and the group
- Ensure compliance of all financial activities with statutory requirements e.g., Payroll Tax returns, Superannuation, BAS returns etc in multiple countries.
- Oversight of the weekly and fortnightly payroll processes including increased automation of the process
- Wide range of bank, credit card and General ledger Reconciliations
- Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Registers
- Review and monitor profitability of individual contracts and work with project managers to identify potential issues at an early stage.
- Ad hoc reporting to the QBCC, Queensland Labour Hire Regulator etc
- Manage preparation of tax returns for the various entities
- Review current systems and processes with a view to automating processes
- Liaison with stakeholders such as auditors, bankers, and shareholders
Experience required:
- Experience ideally in construction and manufacturing
- Qualified accountant (ACCA/CA/CPA) with previous experience in a similar environment.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
