The Role –

This Financial Accountant role is an opportunity to be part of a high performing team here at DHL eCommerce. Working as part of the Finance team, this hands-on role is responsible to support the drive to instill best practice in finance processes, partnering with all other business functions and shared services to contribute towards timely, accurate, complete and compliant financial accounting in accordance with statutory requirements, company policies, and procedures.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Financial and Management Accounting and Reporting
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close processes including preparation of accruals, preparation and posting of journal entries, monthly schedules, both bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • P&L review, variance analysis and providing visibility to both local and global stakeholders, and to support to internal business functions with regular deep-dives
  • Ensure appropriate accounting standards are adhered to and drive accurate financial reporting
  • Support forecast and budget deliverables
  • Prepare direct cost performance deep-dives including KPI based measurements and analysis
  • Contribute towards preparation of management reporting packs key performance indicators for various stakeholders with commentary on performance and trends
  • Contribute towards preparation of comparison packs detailing the underlying performance and reporting performance
  • Support indirect cost analysis and perform review of with functional heads on a periodic basis
  • Contribute towards preparation of cash flow analysis including deep-dives on accounts receivables and payables
  • Support business decisions with support on variance analysis
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all reporting requirements to internal stakeholders (local, regional and global) as well as to external stakeholders including regulatory and statutory reporting and filings
  • Jointly responsible for master data to ensure adherence to and continual review of chart of accounts
  • Support the creation of a new financial reporting process
  • Support accounts receivable management and tracking as well as accounts payable management

• Audit and Taxation
  • Support the external audit by working closely with the external auditors and the  business functions to prepare necessary data sets and collate the required set of details
  • Support the internal audit by working closely with the internal auditors, divisional and corporate teams, prepare necessary data sets, evidences and collate adequate data sets
  • Support on all tax matters including liaison with Group tax, local tax service provider, inter-company and corporate trustees on BAS, FBT and tax reporting submissions to the ATO
  • Work closely with external tax auditors to enable adherence to company practices, adjustments to financial books to reflect the tax guidance, and filing of annual tax returns
  • Comply with filing requirements including Transfer Pricing, PTR and Assurance reviews
• Compliance
  • Continual review of Internal Control Framework, keep up-to-date to ensure adherence
  • Review policies and processes to align with divisional and corporate standards
  • Support actions to ensure compliance to procedures and policies
  • Measure quality and completeness of processes to ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Support the quality checks in processes and outcomes from Shared Service teams and centres as well as customer and vendor engagements
  • Participate in rolling out process and control improvements including digital transformation
• Projects
  • Support the projects for the finance functions including providing support to cross functional projects
• Systems & Processes
  • Participate in continuous review and improvement of data consumption, reporting processes and various templates with a focus on process simplification and automation
  • Drive process and efficiency improvements that will benefit the business and implement agreed changes in partnership with business stakeholders
  • Jointly ensure local practices and processes are aligned with internal requirements based on divisional and corporate standards as well as external regulatory requirements
  • Build databases, dashboards, reporting packs in Power BI to enhance the visibility and support data and analysis based reviews and business decisions

Key Skills and Attributes –

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce;
• Fully qualified CA or CPA preferred or working towards completion;
• Knowledge of local accounting standards as well as IFRS and taxation aspects;
• Previous experience within a complex, high volume environment, along with strong SAP experience preferably within logistics / supply chain sector;
• Advanced Excel skills with exposure to data analytics;
• Hands-on Power BI experience is advantageous;
• Fluent in spoken and written in English;
• Ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment with a can-do approach;
• Excellent communication, time-management and organizational skills;
• Proactive attitude – owns a problem and drives a solution;
• Able to work autonomously and in a team environment;
• Ability to work with local, regional and global teams, flexible to attend regional or global calls outside of standard local business hours.
• Customer service focused and improvement driven passionate individual curious to learn and develop further; and
• Previous experience in managing people preferred but not mandatory
