The opportunity
Join our Financial Accounting team and support a diverse range of accounting and analytical activities, help drive process and system improvements and get involved in a variety of upcoming projects within the Finance arena.
This role would suit an experienced Financial Accountant looking for a busy hands-on role in a large, complex organisation that has a social impact. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Compliance with financial procedures and processes for balance sheet liabilities
- Accurate and timely monthly end assistance, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Intercompany accounting, reconciliations, journals, and accruals
- Statutory reporting (BAS and FBT)
- Assistance with year-end annual reporting for Uniting Housing Victoria and Uniting Housing Australia
- Development of appropriate control measures for the mitigation of financial and operational risk
- Assistance with acquittals and other external reporting on an ad hoc basis for Housing Victoria and Uniting Housing Australia
- Assistance with the annual audit processes
- Development of appropriate control measures for the mitigation of financial and operational risk
What’s on offer
Hybrid and flexible work environment. We focus on outputs and deliverables and are set-up to work remotely (laptop, phone) 3 days per week and from our Lonsdale Street office Monday and Thursday.
In addition to receiving a salary between $85k - $100k, and superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading. Salary will be reflective or whether you hold CPA or CA accreditation.

About you
You will be an experienced Financial Accountant with excellent interpersonal skills. You have a proven track record engaging with stakeholders and adapting communication to your audience.
You’ll also bring with you:
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, business or equivalent
- CPA or CA status (or working towards)
- Demonstrated success in a large and complex organisation
- Experienced using Financial Management systems such as D365, SAP, Oracle, Tech One, etc.
- Advanced Excel capabilities
