The Opportunity:
As of result of an internal move, an exciting opportunity has become available for a high performing Financial Accounting Manager to join the Finance & Strategy team.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, the Financial Accounting Manager has responsibility for managing the financial close for the Health Insurance Business's general ledger, enabling timely and accurate reporting for month end, half year and year end.
The role is responsible to ensure all accounting, compliance activities and month end controls are efficiently managed to timelines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and leading a team of 5 direct reports
- Set the Financial Accounting team's goals
- Ensure the team are adequately trained and supported in their respective roles
- Provide the team with technical accounting support to facilitate month end process
- Manage priorities and work flow between team members
- Responsible for the balance sheet reconciliation process and improvements
- Preparation and involvement in regulatory submissions
- Responsible for preparation and submission of compliance activities
- Preparation of the Group's analytical review at Half year and Year end
- Assist with inputs and review of Group Financial Statements as required
- Key contributor in the financial audit process
About you:
To be successful as the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be CA/CPA qualified and have led a team of at least 2-3 direct reports. This role requires minimum 5-10 years within a large listed corporate environment.
Strong stakeholder management coupled with clear communication skills is imperative to succeed in this role. You will also have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate across teams and look for improvement opportunities. This is a hands on role which requires strong attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to think outside the box.
This role requires an individual who will mentor and support their team to achieve their goals, therefore prior people leadership skills are essential.
