About the role

Vertech are seeking a Financial Controller who is a great communicator, loves interfacing and working with people of all levels, and who isn’t afraid to drive positive change. 

Working directly with the Group Managing Director (MD) and collaborating with department heads across Australia, New Zealand, and the US, we are looking for someone with a great personality to oversee the finance department and to lead our amazing finance team.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support to our finance team to ensure efficient end to end delivery of the finance function, supported by the Finance Manager;
• Report financial information to senior management on a regular basis, working to strict deadlines;
• Keep up to date with financial legislation and ensure company compliance on all accounting and tax related items i.e PAYGW, Payroll Tax, GST, IT, FBT etc;
• Key focal point for end of year audit and tax process, supported by the Finance Manager;
• Manage the budgeting and forecasting process for all group entities, alongside the MD and all relevant stakeholders. Develop robust practical finance tools for budgeting and forecasting;
• Manage cashflow for each of the Australian Group companies;
• Manage company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems;
• Provide finance related recommendations and advice to departmental and senior management.
• Develop financial management mechanisms which minimise financial risk;
• Research and report factors influencing business performance;
• Provide financial analysis and assessment during mergers and acquisitions;
• Process and system improvements, superuser for D365 and maintaining CoA, financial dimensions etc;
• Lead individual “real time” and annual staff reviews with support from HR.

Skills and experience

• Bachelor's Degree in finance or related discipline;
• CA/CPA accreditation (preferred but not essential);
• Experience with D365 (essential);
• Previous experience leading a team (preferred but not essential); 
• A strong foundation in all areas of finance;
• Experience working in a fast paced, reactive operations/project environment;
• Strong understanding and practical application of finance management systems;
• Superior organisational and time management skills within multi project environment;
• Highly competent with excel, systems and software;
• Outstanding communication and influencing skills for change management: practical, common sense, innovative outlook.
