SO4 are driving toward the production of world class Sulphate of Potash (SOP). Our Lake Way asset is in the Goldfields region of Western Australia, 15 kilometres south of Wiluna. We are entering an exciting new phase in our progress, as we will be into our production ramp-up in a few days. 

SO4 is a fast-growing Perth based company, developing its clean, green Lake Way SOP Project, enabling sustainable food production.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO, the Financial Controller/Head of Finance will lead and manage the finance team to meet deadlines and deliver a customer focused support service to employees on payroll and suppliers queries ensuring payments are executed on time.

As the Financial Controller/Head of Finance you will ensure all financial statements, systems, practices, treasury, taxation, and superannuation is timely, accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant accounting principles, and other regulatory requirements. 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Mentoring and coaching the Finance team to drive high performance and ensure aligned responsibilities are completed to a quality standard and in an accurate, timely manner while ensuring compliance with SO4 standards and legislation.
• Manage communications between site and the Perth office on all finance related matters, including inputs from site, and reporting back to site. 
• Monthly site visits to SO4’s Lake Way project at Wiluna to provide guidance and support to the site team. 
• Coordinate and provide guidance to finance contractors and consultants maintaining an overview on all activities performed to ensure value for service.
• Manage the preparation of annual income tax returns and liaise with the SO4’s tax advisors.
• Management and review of the preparation and lodgement of all indirect tax obligations (GST, FBT, PAYG, Payroll Tax).
• Oversee the preparation of tax effect accounting for financial statements.
• Manage annual R&D tax refund application process with SO4’s tax advisors.
• Ensure financial compliance to laws and regulations.
• Prepare monthly finance strategy project updates and communicate results to the management team and Project Managers as appropriate.
• Manage the administration of the Pronto general ledger system.
• Prepare complete and accurate and timely monthly management accounts (including assistance with CFO reports, budget variance analysis, 13-week cashflow and expenditure commitments) for reporting actions. 
• Develop and implement best practices for processes, practices, standards, and documentation, ensuring all financial accounts comply with relevant International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Manage preparation and audit process of the Annual and Half Yearly Financial Reports. 
• Lead, develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Management of tenement expenditure reporting (Form 5).
• Analyse business results for unusual variations from expectations and communicate to management in a timely manner with proposed actions for cost initiatives and support the implementation.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a motivating leader who is hands on with well-developed influencing, communication, and consultation skills. You will have the capacity to handle complex situations and make decisions under pressure and foster close working relationships with the direct team, employees, and contractors. 

The successful candidate will have a minimum 10 years of Finance experience with a broad range of experience in revenue and cost-efficiency projects, with demonstrated experience in generating budgets and forecasts. Importantly, you will have the ability to communicate with a confident and compelling message to a wide range of stakeholders.

To be successful in the role you will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Professional accounting qualification such as Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant
• Advanced computer literacy and business software knowledge of Office 365 including Excel and PowerPoint applications
• Advanced user of Pronto
• In-depth understanding of Finance processes and legislation
• Knowledge of FIFO workforce rostering and pay calculations
• Solid grasp of budget and establishing Project Management Office (PMO) processes
• Established an approach to effectively sourcing, gathering, interpreting, and communicating quantitative and qualitative mining data
• Significant experience in getting the very best out of people and educating them to be successful at forecasting and budget adherence
• Previous exposure managing financials for mining or construction companies
