The group has ambitious growth plans and are looking for a self-motivated Financial Controller to oversee and manage the accounting and finance function within the group under the supervision of the Board and executive team.
About the role
Based at our Perth facility (High Wycombe) you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and management for the organisation. Providing strategic guidance to the Board and executive team, ensuring sound financial decision-making that aligns with company's goals and objectives.
You will also work directly with the group’s external financial and taxation accountants to prepare year end special purpose financial reports and assist with year-end taxation compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management, along with a comprehensive understanding of payroll tax, financial modelling, and data analysis. Overseeing the finance team and all financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies and financial systems to support the company's growth objectives and enhance profitability.
- Optimise the performance, output, and culture of a small finance team.
- Provide financial leadership and guidance to the Board, executive team, operational managers, and other key stakeholders.
- Optimise the working capital position of the business and monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and identify areas for improvement or optimisation.
- Develop business intelligence capability to enable analysis of performance and insights into the profitability of the business.
- Improve awareness of the Finance function across the business, collaborating with the operations teams to evaluate performance metrics, streamline processes, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Develop budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Lead financial reporting activities, including the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations for management and external stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including financial institutions, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform financial decision-making and mitigate risks.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Conduct periodic reviews to assess control effectiveness and identify areas for enhancement.

- Experience within the mining services sector is highly desired to allow you to hit the ground running and understand industry dynamics.
- Presentation Skills: The ability to confidently present financial information in a clear and concise manner to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Data analysis and margin and profit analysis: Your ability to interpret data and understand profit margins on business activities is critical to the success of the business and its growth strategy. The board and executive team will be looking for accurate analysis of data in order to make critical business decisions.
- Integrity: Upholding high ethical standards and ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines in financial practices.
- Critical Thinking: The ability to work in a team environment to analyse complex financial issues and devise effective solutions.
- Willingness to work in a hands-on, team environment and to ensure compliance needs are taken care of.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Financial Controller or finance manager role, ideally including within the mining services industry.
- Proven expertise in payroll tax management and compliance.
- Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
