About the role
The Financial Controller is a full-time role based in Perth, reporting to the Corporate Finance Director in Norway and supporting Asia Pacific Region Directors of 2 business segments in Australia and Malaysia.
The role will work closely with the respective regional business line managers, divisional controllers, country accountants and corporate functional managers. The role is to ensure that the business results are reviewed, analyzed and reported in an accurate and timely manner and importantly, the processes and practices put in place are continuously and consistently followed.
The role entails timely and accurate consolidation and effective reporting of financial results, KPIs, CAPEX etc. on a monthly and quarterly basis, as well as ad-hoc reporting to meet the needs of the business.
An advisor to management who will also ensure financial control and compliance within the country and region for the respective divisions.
The role also requires handling human resources, payroll, corporate governance and compliance, administration, purchasing and company secretarial functions of the Company.
Main duties:
- Contribute to financial goals and strategies for Australia and APAC Region.
- Prepare, update and present budgets and financial plans for Australia and APAC Regions
- Responsible for the monthly financial report, including 3 months rolling forecast.
- Responsible for business measures such as Inventory, Cash Flow, DSO, including outstanding payments from customers.
- Project management of business improvement initiatives e.g. budget process, AFE/utilization/Capex process, DSO/Unbilled reporting, business intelligence, inventory, etc.
- Financial and legal review for customer tenders and contracts together with the corporate legal counsel and Business Line Manager.
- Propose and execute business improvement initiatives.
- Resource for accounting rules and regulations, tax and compliance across the divisions.
- Represent Archer Australia to external legal counsel, tax accountants, auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Responsible for filing and accurate submission of all returns and documents to meet regulatory requirements and yearly accounting.
- Responsible for finalizing the statutory year-end documents (Annual report, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Notes, Cash Flow and Annual Company Statement etc. ).
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented, recorded, filed, and reported.
- Responsible for human resources, payroll, corporate governance and compliance, administration, purchasing and corporate secretarial functions of the Company.
Skills and experience
- Minimum bachelor's degree in finance, Business or Accounting and CPA qualified
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or auditor, preferably in the oil & gas industry
- All-rounded knowledge and experience in the general management of a company and in handling corporate affairs with external stakeholders
- Excellent skills and experience with Excel and ERP systems
- Foreign branch accounting experience, understanding of permanent establishment issues and tax regimes.
- Working experience in Asia and Oil & Gas industry will be added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills working with a culturally diverse team of onshore and offshore workers.
- Excellent communication and cooperation skills
- Strong sense of order with a high degree of accuracy and integrity
- Ability to handle the high workload within a tight timeline.
