The Role:
We are looking for an achievement-oriented Financial Controller to join a well-respected company experiencing sustainable growth. The successful applicant will be an experienced leader, with broad finance & accounting skills. The role is a financial leadership role requiring a candidate who can deliver solid and timely advice to Management and manage finance teams engaged in mining, training and civil. The role will be instrumental in establishing Group reporting and analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting function and payroll function for the Group
- Develop and drive continuous improvement of financial processes while ensuring strong financial controls and appropriate processes and procedures are maintained.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the month end process to deliver accurate, consolidated monthly management reporting pack with analyses of variances against budget
- Manage treasury functions such as cash flow forecasting, banking and credit cards.
- Manage the preparation of Annual Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts in collaboration with respective departmental / project managers
- Preparation and lodgement of compliant full year financial statements
- Responsible for management of insurances for the company including claims and group compliance
- Responsible for managing the interim and annual audit process with external auditors
- Oversee preparation of all Super, BAS, FBT and Payroll Tax and Income Tax returns.
Required skills and experience:
- Post graduate degree in accounting such as a CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
- 10+ years’ experience in the accounting and mining space
- Demonstrated success in leading a finance team with strong people management practices
- High attention to detail and ability to identify patterns and trends
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships.
- Team player - contributes positively and delivers results on time at a high standard.
- Mining experience is desirable
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Program skills and ERP (Pronto) experience is desirable
- Advanced Excel Financial Modelling Skills including use of Power Query, Power Pivot (Relational Data Models) and accessing data through ODBC connectors is desirable or willingness and aptitude to develop these skills.
