The Opportunity
As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the HBF Group including HBF Health, Wellness, Queensland Country Health Fund and Life Ready. Reporting directly to the General Manager Group Finance, your responsibilities include creating a culture of exceptional service, teamwork, and commitment to excellence within the finance team. Your role extends to leading the comprehensive and accurate reporting of all financial activities, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and standards and internal controls.

You will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance and improvement of the internal controls framework and ensuring the integrity and transparency of APRA and statutory financial reporting. Thriving in this role is not just dependent on navigating complexities, but actively seeking complexity out and challenging existing ways of working as opportunities to learn, grow and optimise. This means having a deep curiosity to delve deeper into processes, a resourceful mindset to being experience and expertise and resilience to preserve through ambiguity. Collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization including the Audit Committee, you will provide informed financial insights and accounting advice to support strategic decision-making to the CFO, General Manager Group Finance and the Audit Committee.

About You
We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic finance professional to fill the role of Financial Controller at HBF. The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of demonstrated experience in finance, controllership and accounting management, holding a Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Accounting and Finance or a related field, along with a professional accounting qualification. This individual possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, influencing abilities, and a proven track record of building effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills are paramount, as is the capacity to lead a team and drive a performance-based culture. The successful candidate will have experience in managing financial operations, operating effective internal controls, risk management and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Additionally, expertise in financial analysis, stakeholder management, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement are highly valued. Essential Experience:

• 10+ years’ experience in finance and accounting management
• Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Accounting and Finance or other related field (or equivalent significant) work experience
• Professional accounting qualification
• Demonstrated experience in influencing senior level management and key stakeholders such as Audit Committees
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with people at all levels of the organization
• Experience in challenging the status quo to improve the financial controls framework and manage risk
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated experience in building finance analysis capability and developing a finance analysis services strategy in organisations
