Your role
As a Financial Investment Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the full deal process to identify, assess and bring forward investment decisions for renewable energy and storage projects.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.
What you will do:
- Financial models – Lead the development and maintenance of financial models to determine the forecast cash-flows, project & equity IRR, and valuation of renewable energy asset investment opportunities for initial assessment, to support internal investment approval processes and post investment performance. Financial models will be able to assess multiple market scenarios, have pre and post-tax output and include asset level debt where appropriate. Financial models will be audited from time to time to ensure integrity.
- Assessment of investment opportunities – Input project data, market forecasts and general assumptions into the asset financial model and summarise output for commercial review.
- Project due diligence – Work with relevant advisors providing due diligence on prospective investments and update financial models as needed.
- Investment recommendation reports – Assist in the preparation of reports for executive management, the investment committee and other stakeholders to provide clear and well-supported recommendations on specific energy infrastructure investments.
- Portfolio management – Consolidate forecasts or results to enable commercial assessment of assets and investments in a portfolio setting.

Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:
- Expert experience in the financial modelling of energy infrastructure investments, preferably from an investment or private asset management background.
- Able to develop, test and manipulate energy asset financial models based on discounted cash flows.
- An understanding of the potential risks associated with development, delivery and operation of energy assets in the National Electricity Market.
- Commercial mindset with experience conducting and working with due diligence and risk management processes.
- Good understanding of the Australian energy landscape.
- Good understanding of Australian financial and accounting codes and practices.
- An appreciation of Victorian Government policy targets, initiatives, and goals.
