Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

Using Australia as a base to grow their business regionally in Asia, they are building out a corporate team here. The Australian business' newly appointed Chief Financial Officer is creating their finance team and the next appointment needs to be their 2IC in the form of a talented Finance Manager to grow along with the business, taking on more responsibility and complexity in their role as the business matures.

The Role

Reporting to the CFO and with a small transactional team locally and offshore support, the Finance Manager will undertake a hands on role supporting critical business activities relating to Financial Planning, analysis, reporting and financial governance. Your duties will include, but not be limited to:-

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead processes for the business segment annual budget, annual long-range plan, and quarterly revised forecast including the planning, drafting and analysis of budgets, and collation and review of revised forecasts
• Design and maintain planning tools that facilitate an efficient and effective process to construct a high-quality budget and forecasts
• Prepare forecast financial statements on a regular basis including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
• Partner with global FP&A team on supporting, maintaining, and utilising budgeting software and BI software

Performance Reporting

• Manage and prepare management reporting and variance analyses, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning
• Engage with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure comprehensive analysis of financials and prepare monthly commentary and analysis on the P&Ls for business segments, as well as detailed revenue/expense analysis
• Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost management and ultimately to deliver improved margin across the business through in-depth analysis, tracking and reporting
• Proactively analyse business segment variances between budget and actual and determine root causes for the variances, then summarise and report on findings to business partners
• Anticipate needs of business partners, create reports or analysis that enable them to effectively run the business, make decisions, accomplish goals, execute strategic objectives, and other business and commercial activities.

Governance and Strategy

• Identify, develop, and maintain business metrics that align with strategy
• Contribute in cross functional teams to provide financial expertise to evaluate new business opportunities and create financial models to assess these opportunities in Australia and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
• Collaborate with global Finance teams to identify and adjust as required to points of difference between US GAAP and AASB, Australian tax, and the parent and subsidiary company relationship
• Liaise with external auditors and provide advice on application of the relevant accounting standards.
• Partner with global Accounting team to ensure accuracy of internal reporting and consistency between actuals and projections
• Partner with IT to ensure integrity of data across systems such as general ledger, data warehouse, planning software
• Ad hoc analysis and requests as directed by senior leaders.

About You

The successful Finance Manager will have a demonstrable track record in communication and collaboration as the position involves working closely with diverse teams and explaining financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders. Strong analytical abilities are essential for interpreting financial data and identifying trends, while adaptability and problem-solving skills are necessary for navigating dynamic business environments. .

Skills & Experience

• CA/CPA qualified
• Experience in a regional role or within a multinational would be advantageous
• Strong experience in report writing, using ERP systems, budgeting software and getting the most out Business Intelligence tools is crucial
• Working knowledge of AASB and Australian Tax will be highly regarded.
