- A strong desire to contribute your skills and expertise to our business
- Someone who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent / identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by the community in which they were born, has lived or currently lives
- A commitment to promoting and preserving Aboriginal culture and value
- Appropriate qualifications in business, communications, community service disciplines or relevant First Nations industry experience.
- A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NSW Aboriginal societies, including their history and current policies affecting their communities.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills; including the ability to share, deliver and promote awareness with WaterNSW of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural issues.
- Contemporary awareness of local issues and factors influencing land management / water issues within indigenous communities
- Significant experience supporting and leading culturally appropriate engagement programs with First Nation people and communities;
- Demonstrated ability to engage with project teams to support First Nations engagement and cultural heritage in the delivery of Major Projects.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Support the implementation of policies and programs within WaterNSW that proactively develop First Nations cultural competency within WaterNSW.
- Represent WaterNSW as required at community meetings, forums, events that relate to First Nations connection to water, our Major Projects across NSW.
- Support the development and implementation of appropriate strategies to improve communication and engagement with First Nations community / stakeholder groups and build and enhance strong relationships and partnerships.
- Support the development and implementation of a WaterNSW Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Liaise, develop and deliver education and partnership programs with First Nations communities to enhance engagement and connection.
- Engage and communicate with the wider WaterNSW teams to provide input and advice on communication plans areas such as infrastructure projects including the dams and Indigenous Land Use Water Agreements (ILUWA’s)
