Getaway Outdoors Balcatta is a WA family owned and operated store that has been in operation for over 30 years. We specialise in fishing, camping, 4WD, watersports and outdoor adventure equipment.
We are seeking an enthusiastic retail assistant with vast knowledge and passion for the fishing industry to join our Getaway Outdoors Balcatta family. We are looking for someone who is an energetic self-starter, who is looking to grow within our business and be a key member of our team. Sound knowledge of the fishing industry is essential and experience in selling is desirable but not essential. Along with in-house training you will also be offered the chance to build on your experience as salesperson however, being a self-starter is a must. This position requires exceptional customer service skills, a desire for constant growth and success and the ability to self-manage and learn quickly. With the nature of the position, you will also need to be hands on when necessary! The role involves regular weekend work and Public Holidays.
Duties Include:
- Providing customers with knowledge of fishing products
- Promoting and selling our brands
- Building on a network of loyal customers
- Assessing customer needs
- Respond to enquiries over the phone and face-to-face from the staff and public
- Communication skills including conflict resolution and friendly manner
- Miscellaneous admin duties and support business team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Team orientated approach
- Handling Complaints
- Processing transactions
- Taking Deliveries
- Keeping the store fully stocked
- Refilling gas
- Providing recommendations
- Stacking shelves and replenishing stock
- Maintaining a clean and tidy store
- Merchandising
- Monitoring customer behaviour
- Assisting with ordering of stock
- Other duties as required
The Successful Candidate:
- Must be an enthusiastic team player
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Must have an ability to build rapport and understand customer needs
- Will have the ability to be flexible as weekend work will be required
- Will ideally have fishing industry product knowledge
- Must have a passion for the fishing industry
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must have good computer skills
- Retail experience is desirable but not essential
