IMMEDIATE START - $43 per hour PLUS
Key Duties:
• Ensure all work practices are conducted in a safe manner in line with relevant
legislative and Australian standards.
• Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method &
sequence of operations, and machine settings.
• Read and interpret drawings.
• Measure parts and replicate without drawings.
• Operate a wide range of metal machining machine tools, including but not limited to:
Lathes, Milling Machines, Drills, Borers (Vertical and Horizontal), Lineboring Machines,
Grinders (Surface and Cylindrical) Slotters, Shapers and Saws.
• Operate crane hoists to move small loads in line with relevant task.
• Fit fabricated metal parts into products and assemble metal parts and subassemblies
to produce machines and equipment.
• Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using
precision measuring instruments.
• Form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut,
grind, plane, bore and drill metal.
• Diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance of machines, overhaul and
repair mechanical parts and fluid power equipment.
• The ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner or develop alternative
solutions.
• Ability to complete work with accuracy and thoroughness.
• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks.
• Follow procedures and policies.
Key Relationships:
• Report to Workshop Supervisor, Leading Hand and Mechanical Services Manager.
• Team members- Balance team and individual responsibilities and supports other’s
efforts to succeed.
• Integrate with all people within the business.
Role Expectations:
Qualifications
• Trade qualification in Fitting Machining (Cert III Mechanical Engineering [Trade]).
• Minimum of Queensland C Class Drivers Licence.
Industry experience
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience in Fitting and Machining, repairs on all types of plant and equipment for
mines, sugar, ports and agriculture industries.
