The Fleet Technician is responsible for the provision of high quality mechanical and technical fleet support services to the QAS Fleet and Equipment Unit. The role undertakes a wide range of tasks, including the preparation of preventative maintenance programs; quality and compliance inspections; non-compliance reporting; coordination of regional fleet vehicles; and warranty and vehicle build specifications.
The Fleet Technician also provides specialist fleet advice to a range of stakeholders to minimise any adverse impact on the operational effectiveness and build phases of the QAS fleet, to support improved patient safety outcomes.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:
- Applicants must have the recognised trade qualification of A: Grade Automotive Technician, or other equivalent trade qualification; with a minimum of three (3) years post-apprentice trade experience.
- Applicants are required to hold a Queensland Driver's Licence equivalent to the National Rigid Licence - Light Rigid (LR) level. Interstate and international applicants must hold an equivalent licence at the time of applying and will be expected to obtain a Queensland Driver's Licence upon appointment.
- Applicants are required to hold a current First Aid Certificate; or have successfully obtained a First Aid Certificate prior to commencement.
We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- High level of mechanical and technical experience and understanding relating to fleet management.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of Code of Practice (Light Vehicle), Transport Operations (Road Use Management), vehicle air-conditioning systems, electrics and contemporary diesel engines.
- Demonstrated experience with and capability in the utilisation of computer-based fleet and workshop management systems.
- Demonstrated well-developed communication, negotiation and consultation skills and the proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills including the proven ability to interpret fleet and equipment performance data to drive performance improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
