We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and committed individual to fill the role of Food and Textiles Technician on a fixed-term contract basis, starting immediately and ending on 30 November 2024.
This full-time term-time position requires availability from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, during school term times. There is no requirement to work during school holiday periods.
The Food and Textiles Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of curriculum and educational programs by providing essential assistance and support to classroom Teachers within the Technologies department. The primary objectives of this role are as follows:
- Facilitate Classroom Preparation: Assist in preparing classrooms for practical and theoretical lessons by creating comprehensive shopping lists, procuring necessary ingredients and materials, and ensuring all equipment and utensils are in optimal condition.
- Support Curriculum Implementation: Collaborate closely with teachers to support the implementation of the Food and Textiles elements of the curriculum. This includes preparing materials, coordinating practical demonstrations, and ensuring that classroom resources are readily available.
- Maintain Safety and Compliance: Uphold safety standards and compliance requirements related to food handling, workplace health and safety, and fire safety within the classroom environment. This objective involves regularly inspecting equipment, managing inventory, and coordinating repairs and servicing as needed.

Essential qualifications and attributes for the Food and Textiles Technician role include:
Essential Qualifications
- Positive Notice from a Working with Children Check (Qld Blue Card) or eligibility to obtain one.
- Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR.
- Open and unrestricted Australian Driver’s License.
- Food Safety or Food Safety Supervisor Qualification.
- Qualifications (or equivalent professional experience) related to the role's responsibilities, such as Certificate II Hospitality or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
Knowledge, Experience, and Attributes
- Relevant experience, preferably in a School environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of textiles and kitchen operations, including Health and Safety and Food Hygiene awareness.
- Resilience and flexibility in a fast-paced school environment.
