Job description

Job Description:
If you live in Australia or New Zealand, you've likely heard of AMP. But at a time when society is changing, we are too. We're now a nimbler business with new leadership and thinking.
For us, these are exciting times. There's a real potential for big thinkers to help us redefine what financial services could be. And turn our legacy into something even more positive and powerful for the future.
Help people create their tomorrow, while you create yours
We help people with their banking, super, retirement and finances. Through upturns, downturns, recessions, and major life transitions. Every day, we help people see and make more of their financial potential, so that they can create their tomorrow. And we've been doing it for over 170 years.
If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.
How you'll make an impact
As part of an exciting change within AMP Bank, you will design, develop, implement and run Fraud and Financial Crime related processes and procedures to ensure they comply with regulatory obligations and align to the AMP Financial Crime ecosystem. This will include but is not limited to fraud, scams, AML/CTF and sanctions risk across the customer lifecycle (onboarding, screening, application, transaction / fraud monitoring, payments, exit, regulatory reporting/engagement).
You will support the business in evolving and embedding core elements of the risk management framework, providing guidance on risk events and supporting risk assessments and scenario analysis. This will enable us to ensure our banking platform is protected against risks and threats, and meets regulatory, commercial and customer experience objectives.
This is very much a “hands on role” involving working collaboratively initially across delivery streams, solving problems, making data driven decisions, challenging and adapting to change, with a relentless focus on customer outcomes. The role will provide an opportunity to challenge existing practices across the Financial Crime ecosystem and to leverage new ways of working.
Main Focus Areas:
  • Fraud and Financial Crime Risk Strategy (Build the Bank):
  • Supports the Fraud and Financial Crime Risk owner by providing strategic leadership and oversight of fraud prevention and Financial Crime Risk mitigation efforts, ensuring compliance with Group Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Designs and maintains a robust risk assessment framework to identify, assess, and prioritise Fraud and Financial Crime Risks.
  • Works closely with the Group risk and compliance function to assess and address potential risk implications that may arise from the banking platform design and configuration. This may include but not limited to changes to risk appetite and/or policy requirements, obtaining risk acceptance from the appropriate governance forums, changes to processes and procedures or technical changes to platform features and functionality.
  • Fraud and Financial Crime Risk Strategy, Assessment and Mitigation (Run the Bank):
  • Actively contributes to the evolution and execution of a Fraud and Financial Crime Risk management framework that ensures compliance with regulatory obligations and industry standards, alignment to AMP Bank's commercial agenda, risk appetite and target state architecture, as well as practical consideration for internal operations and processes.
  • Performs ongoing and regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in AMP Bank's systems and processes. This includes collaborating with internal teams to assess potential risks associated with new products, services, and business initiatives.
  • Acts as the second line of defence, providing independent advice and guidance to customer-facing teams, including challenging where appropriate to ensure effective risk-based decision-making subject to governance and oversight.
  • Oversees the implementation and operation of advanced fraud detection systems and tools to monitor transactions and activities for suspicious patterns.
  • Analyses data and trends to proactively identify potential Fraud and Financial Crime activities.
  • Team Leadership: Manages and mentors a team of professionals responsible for fraud prevention, detection, and investigation. This includes fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous improvement.
  • Relationship Management: Builds strong relationships and works closely with other departments and capability within the AMP Financial Crime ecosystem, including architects, engineers, data specialists, legal and compliance, customer and operations. This includes acting as the primary conduit between AMP Bank platform team and the Group risk and compliance function, the primary point of contact for Fraud and Financial Crime processes-related inquiries, and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Training and Awareness: Provides training and awareness programs to employees on fraud prevention, detection, and reporting
What you will bring to the team
Ideally, you will bring the following experiences to this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, legal, compliance, Financial Crime or a related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience in Fraud and Financial Crime Risk management within the banking or financial industry
  • Knowledge and a proven ability to interpret and comply with relevant regulations, compliance standards and industry best practices in Fraud and Financial Crime
  • Strong knowledge of fraud detection and transaction monitoring technologies, data analytics, and risk assessment methodologies
  • Strong awareness of, and experience in either use or implementation, of Financial Crime / fraud technologies.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Analytical mindset and the ability to interpret complex data to detect patterns and trends and drive insights
  • Ability to balance solving complex problems with fast tactical changes, including being good at knowing where time can be spent most effectively, and making high quality decisions quickly and with data where appropriate
  • Being comfortable operating outside of your comfort zone and dealing with ambiguity
  • Strong communication and written skills with an ability to make the complex comprehensible
  • Ability to build relationships across the business and reach compromises to deliver the best outcomes possible
  • Being inquisitive with the ability to research and make an informed decision
You'll thrive here if…
If you can adapt from BAU to the ambiguous with ease, you'll do well here. Change is never easy, so bring your commitment, grit and growth mindset.
Because we run lean, you'll be expected to jump in and deliver across a variety of areas. Meaning, you'll be closer to the action and executive decisions that influence where we go next.
If you're someone that can hold their own, you'll find AMP quite liberating.
Why we think you'll love working at AMP
Doing what we've always done is not an option, so your clever ideas will get airtime here. You'll be encouraged to speak up and try new things. If they don't work, we move on - better for it.
We know there's no one way of doing things. So, you won't have to sacrifice who you are or how you work to fit in here. We're inclusive and flexible in many of the ways you'd expect. And in some of the ways you wouldn't. As long as your health and wellbeing come first - at home and at work.
In fact, most of what makes AMP such a welcoming, enjoyable place to work are our people. Wherever you go, you'll find moments to connect, feel valued and do meaningful work.
Whether it's through our first-class leaders who are invested in you and your success. Through year-round opportunities to volunteer, fundraise and give back to the community. Or in the everyday challenges you face as we work together to strengthen this great organisation. Challenges that will stretch you, amplify your potential and compound the impact you have.
We believe in the power of inclusion and diversity
We're dedicated to fostering inclusion, diversity, and a warm feeling of belonging at AMP. It sparks creativity, ignites innovation, and turns up the dial on the quality of our decisions and performance. This not only makes our workplace more engaged, but also leads to better connections with our customers.
We're your allies in the search for the perfect fit - when you apply, let us know how we can support you to put your best self forward during our selection process.
We're also committed to enhancing employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, so we enthusiastically encourage candidates from these backgrounds to apply and explore our Reconciliation Plan on our website

If you're someone who sees opportunity where others see challenge, come and work with us in smart, progressive ways as we transform an iconic Australian brand for the future. And, through a series of career-defining moments, create your own tomorrow.
Don't procrastinate! We review applications when we get them, and if we discover the ideal candidate, we may close the role earlier than the advertised close date.
Looking forward to meeting you.
