Government department tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Currently seeking a Fraud Investigator to join their busy team for a 12-month temporary assignment.
About the role
As a Fraud Investigator, you will detect and respond to internal and external payment fraud against the Agency. Your focus is on protecting the Agency's financial sustainability, strengthening fraud control arrangements, and supporting the Fraud Fusion Taskforce to strengthen the Commonwealth’s fraud detection and response capability. In addition, your key duties are as follow:
- Conducting complex and sensitive criminal investigation activities in accordance with the Agency's processes and the Australian Government Investigation Standards.
- Conducting interviews, preparing statements and affidavits, collecting, securing and managing evidential material and confidential information
- Preparing cases and briefs of evidence for referral to relevant parties such as the Australian Federal Police and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
- Providing evidence in criminal and civil court as a representative of the Agency
- Analysing and processing information to produce accurate and informative reports, undertaking administration, reporting and project work as required.
- Assisting with the execution of search warrants, which may require domestic air travel and working extended hours including overnight stays
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Previous Fraud Investigation experience, preferably in a Government Agency or Department
- Proven experience in providing evidence in criminal and/or civil court
- Skilled in conducting interviews and preparing briefs of evidence
- Strong background in conducting formal and informal discussions with partner agencies
- High-level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and also autonomously
- May 2024 start date
- Casual 12-month temporary assignment
- Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
- $60.26 per hour + super
- Brisbane, QLD location
