We are currently looking for someone with a real passion and green thumb for Agriculture to help maintain 350 hectares of Orchards made up of Apples, Pears, and Stone Fruits.
Reporting to the Orchard Operations Manager the Fruit Farm Worker is responsible for efficiently undertaking all orchard duties as directed and form an integral part of the Orchard Operations.
Job tasks and Responsibilities
- Mowing, Mulching, Slashing, Weeding and Pest Control duties.
- Operating farm machines to cultivate, fertilise, spray and harvest fruits.
- Selecting and picking fruit according to size and ripeness, and discarding rotting and over-ripened produce.
- Perform post and wire erection duties.
- Thinning, weeding and hoeing row crops, and pruning trees and vines
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on all orchard equipment.
- Loading filled fruit bins onto trucks.
- Maintain the orchard equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the orchards.
- All other duties as required.
Skills and Experiences
We are looking for someone with experience in a similar position. A certificate in Farming and Agriculture is highly regarded but is not essential.
We will require you to have:
- Valid Australian Work Right
- Forklift License
- Driver’s License
- Experience Operating Farm Machinery
- Chemical User License* Prima Fresh can assist you in obtaining this if you do not have one.
- Firearms License* Prima Fresh can assist you in obtaining this if you do not have one.
