Gallery Assistant

Do you want to have an impact on the arts? Are you passionate about making artists successful? Curatorial+Co. is an Art Gallery and Art Consultancy based in Sydney which is shaking up the arts scene. Showcasing a curated collection of original contemporary artworks from emerging and mid-career artists, the gallery breaks tradition with the white-box gallery format. Understanding the changing parameters in which art is collected today, Curatorial+Co. launched online in 2015 to make art accessible to a new audience of collectors around the world. In addition, our Sydney gallery shows regular exhibitions to foster our artists’ growth and engage audiences, and our Art Consultancy service for residential, commercial, hotel and public art clients creates a lasting connection between artists and individual collectors, interior designers, architects and organisations. 

We are looking for an energetic, organised, process-focused and friendly person to join our small dynamic team. The Gallery Assistantposition reports to the Gallery Manager and is responsible for coordinating our business operations to enable the team to focus on sales, and client and artist engagement. You will be a proactive, detailed person who will support the efficiency and effectiveness of our gallery and business operations.

• Be the backbone of the gallery + work with team members + clients to create a successful, cohesive, friendly + collaborative environment
• Logistics management + registrar duties—packing and shipping artworks worldwide with care
• Stockroom management 
• Art loan management
• Process + systems coordination
• Data entry + quality control of art + client database
• Basic invoicing, receipting + accounts receivable
• Exhibition admin + install assistance
• Enquiry handling
• General office admin + gallery duties

• Outstanding written + verbal communication skills
• Ability to think outside the box, aligning with Curatorial+Co.’s brand 
• A self-starter with extreme attention to detail, positive attitude + a willingness to listen + learn
• Ability to lift + carry, RSA + full COVID-19 vaccination

• Bachelor degree
• Some experience in a professional environment 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Xero, Wordpress, Dext, Adobe Suite + Asana

• Location: Woolloomooloo, Sydney
• Full time position (Mon-Fri, plus evening exhibition openings + events)
• Remuneration will be based on the right candidate’s experience
