As a Gardener - Handyperson, you will provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. The successful applicant will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. You should possess knowledge of gardening methods and procedures, including the safe use and storage of gardening equipment, materials and chemicals. Experience in servicing gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
The successful applicant should possess good communication and organisation skills as well as attention to detail and be able to work unsupervised as well as within a team environment.
Churchlands Primary School was established in 1965 and continues to grow as an exemplary Independent Public School with students enrolled in Kindergarten to Year 6, representing 47 nationalities. ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- complete introductory School Gardener training within 3 months of commencement in metropolitan areas or as soon as practicable for regional areas.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
