Employment Opportunity: General Manager Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing Club
The Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing Club is currently seeking applications for the position of General Manager.
The Country NSW Race Club conducts 12 thoroughbred race meetings each year as well as hosting a variety of functions and corporate and social events at the racecourse.
Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing Club is looking to appoint a leader to develop and grow the organisation in line with the direction and values of the Club and to serve both the Bathurst community and the racing industry in the region.
The Role
The General Manager, reporting to the Board, will be responsible for the management of the Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing Club’s operations and activities including the effective administration of the business, including oversight of all racing and training facilities, events, functions and will lead and mentor all staff and contractors.
The key responsibilities extend to:
- Business planning and Development - working with the Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing Club Board to manage the Clubs core business activities.
- Maintain and elevate Community, Membership, Stakeholder and Industry Participant relationships.
- Budget preparation, financial analysis and reporting and MYOB processing and payroll.
- Liaising with the Governing Body.
About You
The successful applicant will understand and relish the opportunity to work with and to the benefit of the Club and multiple stakeholders from within thoroughbred racing and the Bathurst community.
This is a full-time position with the requirement to work weekends to facilitate race meetings.
You will need to possess extensive leadership, communication, organisational, financial and management skills.
The General Manager will ideally possess all or most of:
- Good racing knowledge
- Strong organising, communication, and public relation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Capacity to engage with people at all levels to build positive working relationships
- Capacity to work with the Racing Industry Governing Body and comply with all standards, policies and procedures
- Understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation and ability to manage risks
- Capacity to oversee budget preparation, financial analysis, planning, reporting, marketing, compliance/governance, and event management
