Based in the Wyndham area since 1993, the Wyndham Health Foundation (WHF) exists to build community and private partnerships and to raise vital funds and awareness for the continued development of health promotion, research, education, equipment, facilities and special projects at Wyndham’s public hospitals. By doing so we are ensuring the Wyndham community has the public hospital services that our community needs.
We are looking for a part-time (3 days per week) General Manager to build upon an already established strategy for our small but high-performing charity. You’ll undertake a wide range of tasks; from fundraising, sponsorship generation, community engagement, operations, and disbursement. The successful candidate will have a passion for not-for-profit community service. They will need to understand how to manage a variety of key stakeholders and be able to effectively report to a Board of Directors.
Position Summary
This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall success of Wyndham Health Foundation (WHF), focusing on 3 core aspects:
The commercial and brand performance of the business. Upon direction from the Board, the role will drive commercial performance to generate revenue and brand exposure, and ensure our execution delivers on commercial results.
The operational performance of the business. Ensuring we manage expenses and meet our obligations as a not-for-profit. Ensure we meet all criteria to operate legally, effectively and to deliver great community orientated outcomes.
The management of disbursements of funds into the Wyndham community and the generation of community-oriented programs designed to allow WHF to meet its Purpose and Mission.
Key aspects of this role will include, but are not limited to:
The GM will have the key objective to increase performance across all three areas of responsibility. A key focus will be, in consultation with the Board, the development and execution of a sound commercial and operational business plan to achieve expected performance targets. Other aspects include:
- Managing all commercial and operational aspects of WHF.
- Building the profile of WHF in the community.
- Meeting the expected revenue targets through the generation of sponsorship and fundraising.
- Building key relationships in the Wyndham community to foster growth and brand exposure.
- Building a strong partnership with the Werribee Mercy hospital to allow for effective and appropriate disbursements and support.
- Building community partnership with the health community to create opportunities for disbursement of funds.
- Managing operational expenses to deliver on budget performance.
- Managing key partnerships with vendors and suppliers.
- Managing relationships with banks and accountants.
- Reporting to the Board and meeting all compliance aspects of the role.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
As a senior level role, skills and requirements are:
- Senior level experience at a not-for-profit and/or benevolent fund.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial development and business management.
- Knowledge of event management and fund raising.
- Strong background in key stakeholder management.
- Proven experience working independently and managing a variety of cross functional business management tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively in public settings.
- Experience dealing with clients or key stakeholders in a healthcare setting.
- Living in the Wyndham area, or a sound knowledge of the Wyndham Municipality, would be strongly regarded.
