Cowra is home to Cowra Bowling & Recreation Club, a thriving club incorporating the Cowra Bowling Club & Cowra Golf Club with over 5000 members, 65 EGMs, 3 Grass Bowling Greens, an 18 hole Par 71 Golf Course (Best west of the Blue Mountains), Auditorium, 120 seat Restaurant, and a 100 seat Alfresco dining area with BBQ facilities.
Cowra Bowling & Recreation Club is looking for a new General Managerto work in partnership with a passionate Board and take the newly renovated club to the next level. Our renovations included a new alfresco dining area and bar, gaming room with further upgrades to the kitchen and dining areas coming soon.

The successful candidate with be responsible for the achieving the Club’s vision and objectives in a way that reflects our values and supports the community in which we operate. They will have strong financial acumen and be commercially orientated, with a laser focus on ensuring our club is successful and viable in the long term, while continuing to provide high-quality and cost-effective services for our members.
We are looking for someone with a good head for governance, who will ensure our Club operates at, or above industry standards and complies with all relevant legislative and regulatory obligations. They must have demonstrated leadership experience, with a focus on managing the varied key stakeholder relationships that come with managing a Bowling Club and Golf Club, including but not limited to Bowling, Golf and Social members, employees, sponsors, contractors and most importantly our local community in Cowra and surrounding areas.
We are looking for a candidate with the following essential attributes:
• Excellent financial knowledge to analyse financial statements and reports on the Club’s financial performance to the Board
• Previous Experience at senior management level in a similar operational role
• An ability to work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to drive the business
• Strong focus on Governance and understanding of regulatory environment, particularly relating to Gaming and Liquor Act
• The ability to create and implement a clear, dynamic vision for the future of the club
• Ability to supervise, motivate and train staff
• Hold current RSA and RCG certificates
• High level people skills
• Ability to map out member experience, creating a clear vision for maximizing opportunities to improve
• Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet evolving member needs and expectations with a strong understanding of macro-economic factors which could affect the Club
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and attention to details.
Key Areas of Responsibility include:
• Administration - including preparation and execution of the Club’s Strategic Plan with projected budgets and annual business plans to deliver a profitable Club operating environment
• Secretarial – operating as the Club Corporate Secretary, ensuring we comply with all ASIC responsibilities and maintain all relevant board Meeting and AGM Agendas, Minutes, Sub-committee reports in a timely matter to meet all deadlines
• Legal – Interpret and apply relevant Statutes, Acts of Parliament and regulations, in so far as each of these effect the Club, including, but not limited to Industrial Relations, Taxation, Trade practices, Liquor, Gaming and food, Workplace Health and safety, Discrimination and Registered Clubs
• Health, Safety & Environment – ensuring the Club maintains and monitors a WH&S plan for all staff, patrons, visitors and contractors and ensuring we comply with all relevant environmental laws and regulations
• Accounting – Prepare monthly accounts and follow accounting procedures and interpret financial results. Prepare annual accounts and annual reports as well as budgets and treasury returns as required for statutory purposes.
• Human Resources – ensuring the Club has the right people to maintain operations, that they are trained and actively demonstrate our values and meet specified objective with respect to wage expenditure
• Club Promotion/Advertising – initiating a marketing and advertising program that is aimed at growing profitable sections of the Club’s business and promote Club’s services to potential new patrons, members and sponsors
• Bar, Catering and Gaming as well as Premises Operations
• Club Entertainment/Functions
• Club Information and Technology
• Involvement with Sporting, Charity and Community Activities
• Club External relations, maintain or establishing relationships with the relevant organisations, government departments and the local community
