We are currently recruiting the position of General Manager Communications. This position is designed to work transversally with the business across global, regional and market teams as a critical enabler for brand-building, defining a locally relevant strategy (in line with Global strategies) that conveys Chanel’s Brand leadership in Australia.
YOUR PURPOSE
Reporting to the Managing Director of ANZ, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the Communications function for Australia & New Zealand by leveraging their deep knowledge and expertise in the communication space, aptitude in Brand Management, innovative mindset and their transformative leadership, influencing and stakeholder management capabilities.
We are looking for a strong leader with Brand sensitivity, immense curiosity and the drive to think beyond the traditional Communications framework to be a true business partner. He or she must become a holistic ambassador for the House amongst the press and influencers.
The incumbent will be a collaborative and empathetic leader. They will have extensive knowledge of the luxury sector, retail landscape and media, press and influence market knowledge. They will be heavily invested in developing their team and preparing the next generation of leaders whilst role modelling the leadership attributes of Chanel.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Optimize Brand visibility and leadership through communication of Chanel’s Brand stories as well as implementing impactful PR and media actions.
Forging and maintaining strong relationships with the media and continually reinforcing Chanel’s point of difference.
Identifying and diversifying PR and media actions to ensure the right Chanel story / posture is delivered through different channels, addressing the fast-changing media consumption habits of our audience.
Close monitoring of competition to ensure that challenges and threats are addressed effectively and monitoring of the external market more broadly, to leverage opportunities.
Implementing the objectives and priorities for each division while ensuring that the corporate message of the Brand is delivered without compromise nor risk of ‘overexposure’.
Provide leadership over Brand Social Media, Community Engagement and Influencer strategies.
Stay abreast with the latest trends in the market on the evolution of social media and inspire the key stakeholders to explore diverse approaches to media planning.
Foster a strong partnership with major media, technology and social platforms in nurturing the Brand and in delivering the mission of the House across ANZ.
Develop a long-term vision for the Communications Team, building an agile organization with the right capabilities and talents to take on new and emerging challenges amidst the fast-changing media landscape and nuanced consumer behaviors.
Provide strong leadership through collaboration and open communication on direction and strategies.
Be an inspirational leader to their team, the ANZ Executive Leadership team and our people.
Build, develop and enhance the capabilities of their team, provide mentoring over their personal development and in pursuing their career aspirations.
This role is best suited to seasoned leader with 12-15 years’ experience in Communications / Brand Management in the luxury industry and / or consumer / Brand-centric organizations. Ideally, you will have worked in a global organization and be accustomed to working in matrix organization models, leveraging your strong relationship building, interpersonal and influencing skills to collaborate across teams and geographies.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Proven track record of driving transformation in the communications function in a similar scale organisation.
Strong business acumen and sensitivity to the changes in the external context and socioeconomic landscape, identifying and reacting to macro trends.
Able to anticipate disruptions, connect the dots, link actions, themes and achieve outcomes, with strong prioritisation skills and the ability to lead the collective execution of strategy.
Resilient and capable in leading change with a people-centric approach.
Strong learning agility, a growth mindset and the ability and commitment to developing self and others.
International exposure and/or experience
The ability to travel as required and work hours that may reflect global time zones.
