The Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is one of directing and setting the strategy of the sales and distribution to dealers and customers of the company’s range of products, through the Key Account Managers. The purpose of the role is to direct, control and motivate the sales force Australia wide.
The operating environment also includes various State and Federal legislation and requires a working knowledge of those laws, as they relate to promotion, pricing and competition.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement the approved marketing policy and ensure that Makita achieves objectives and maintains profitability.
- Prepare national sales strategy and budgets, and account for variances monthly as part of the overall sales analysis.
- Supervise the allocation of tasks and direct Key Account Managers training and performance development.
- Conduct performance assessments of all direct reports.
- Participate in sales forecasts, product committees and the national promotional program.
- To perform monthly analysis and discussion of Profit & Loss statements and take corrective action where necessary.
- To spend regular and planned time in the field in order to analyse and report achievements of individuals versus stated objectives.
- Implement and be involved with focussed sales management plans for major customers.
- Assist with measuring all marketing and promotional activity to maximise sales.

- Providing high level of management, leadership and responsibility in all areas of the business.
- The ability to develop and execute business strategies, across a wide range of products and diverse markets.
- Possessing an affinity with power tools and trade markets together with an understanding of Makita’s brand heritage and position in the market.
- Having high levels of managerial skills to organise, control and motivate staff.
- Possessing and developing personal management skills and disciplines and be prepared to make decisions based on company interests over personal preferences or bias.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
