About NTV
No to Violence (NTV) is Australia’s largest peak body for organisations and clinicians working with men who use violence. As a pro-feminist organisation NTV is committed to ending gender-based violence and women and children are at the centre of what we do. By ending men’s use of family violence, families, individuals and communities are safer.
No to Violence has a strong reputation as a thoughtful contributor to national efforts to end family and domestic violence. NTV works closely with its members, to amplify their voice as well as leading sector development initiatives and providing a training and workforce development programs. NTV also provides the national front-door to the men’s behaviour change sector through its national Men’s Referral Service 1300 766 491.
About the role
The General Manager - Policy, Advocacy and Engagement reports directly to the CEO and is an integral member of the Executive Team. You will effectively collaborate within and beyond NTV to develop and implement policy-based advocacy campaigns supported by sophisticated engagement and communications strategies.
As the General Manager, you will lead a team of dedicated department heads and be responsible for driving social change and the safety and wellbeing of people impacted by family and domestic violence through a national policy agenda which elevates the focus on men who use violence.
Outcomes of this position

• Build alliances, coalitions and partnerships with key stakeholders including; members, advocates, policymakers, research institutions, government and other partners to develop and execute advocacy campaigns to address men’s use of family violence in Australia
• Harness the resources and outcomes across the division, as well as the strengths of the membership base for maximum impact
• Oversee NTVs media and communications strategy and ensure the voice and interests of members are amplified in public policy debates
• Lead NTV’s government relations with a sound and current understanding of all State and Federal government policies and legislation pertaining to domestic and family violence and foster positive and fruitful relationships with government representatives
• Provide strategic insights, intelligence, and analysis on evolving DFV issues, new research, media debate, government policy and regulatory issues
• Oversee the writing, publishing, and disseminating of policy briefs, position statements, submissions, discussion papers, and opinion editorials on relevant matters
• Oversee the provision of policy and legislative insights, intelligence, and analysis to identify policy campaign opportunities
• Oversee NTV’s member and stakeholder engagement and sector development strategies and initiatives.

Success factors

• Demonstrates a high level of impact with regards to their policy and advocacy
• Experience working for a peak body organisation is highly favourable
• Demonstrated political nous at all levels
• Demonstrated success in political advocacy, government relations, campaigns, and policy development
• Extensive experience in communications marketing, working with complex issues
• Strong team player and inclusive and collaborative people leader with integrity, calmness and agility
• High level communication and presentation skills with the proven ability to align people, resources and initiatives to strategy.
• Demonstrated understanding of research and evaluation techniques, as applied to social problems, program design and implementation.
