Your role:
The General Manager - Strategy, Operations and Governance is instrumental in guiding the strategic direction of our organisation, leading the development and operations of our corporate functions and contributing to a high-performing culture.
Reporting to the Energy and Water Ombudsman, you will be an active member of our Executive Management Group, providing strategic and operational leadership to our talented corporate service teams including finance, information technology, operations, policy and research, reporting and analytics, risk and governance.
A significant part of this role will be managing relationships both within our organisation and with our strategic partners to drive continuous improvement and successfully deliver our projects. You will apply your knowledge of contemporary best-practice approaches in both public and private organisations to stimulate innovative thinking in EWOQ to drive workload and project management improvements and efficiencies.
Functional Accountablities:
- Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) - ensure effective management of the ICT strategy and deliverables with a future-focused lens, including information management and security standards compliance for EWOQ.
- Finance - oversee all financial and budget management including reporting to ensure compliance with the statutory reporting requirements and relevant account standards and policies. EWOQ is an industry-funded scheme and this role is responsible for the development and management of sustainable funding arrangements. It also provides strategic and operational financial advice, effective procurement and contracts advice to achieve cost optimisation, deliver value and ensure the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
- Operations - provide strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of services including facilities management and security to EWOQ.
- Policy and Research - oversee the development of influential formal public submissions and comment on regulatory changes, policy changes and industry developments including responses, reports for other relevant stakeholders. The dissemination of information to EWOQ team members is also a key requirement.
- Reporting and Analytics - drive an agency-wide approach to data and business analysis, reporting and performance management, ensuring policy and planning activities of EWOQ are evidence based.
- Risk and Governance - Ensure a robust governance and compliance framework and that risk at the strategic, operational and emergent level is considered and managed.
