Job Role
The Rally for a CauseGeneral Manager is the delegated authority to implement the organisations’ strategic plans, policies and procedures. This includes encompasses: -
- management of the organisations’ charitable support services
- management of the organisations fundraising streams including the Dunga Derby events
- management of the organisations’ paid and volunteer workforce
- delivery of marketing & communications and
- development & maintenance of relationships with external stakeholders

To ensure that Rally for a Cause continues to be a successful, enthusiastic and an absorbed member of the community, by delivering amazing services to the people we support and their families. To manage and guide staff to achieve the best outcome for all the people we support.
Selection Criteria, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
It would be preferred our candidate had a Degree in Human Services, Social Science or equivalent or a Diploma in Case Management/Leadership/Community with extensive Management experience
A comprehensive understanding of the Non-for-Profit Sector and associated legislation, Corporate Board and Incorporated Association Committee structure with a high level of understanding of Corporate Governance
Experience working collaboratively with teams, Committees and Boards
Experience leading brand marketing and community engagement across traditional and digital media communications within a medium to large organisation
Experience with engagement of sophisticated stakeholders including government, community, grassroots, fundraising, philanthropy and corporate
Proven track record in obtaining and growing business relationships with the ability to acquire and grow funders across corporate, philanthropic and grants sectors
Demonstrated high level of business acumen, including developing leading edge strategy complemented by delivery outcomes investigative, analytical, project, policy formulation and articulation skills with critical analysis and environmental scanning skills
Highly developed organisation and planning skills, including the ability to multitask and work well under pressure, whilst establishing priorities and monitor workflow in all areas of responsibility
A commitment to excellence and attention to detail, particularly in regard to the written word with highly developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills appropriate to an executive level, including experience in public speaking and presentations
Well-developed information and communication technology skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and the aptitude to learn new software as required
The ability to deal with complex and confidential matters in a discreet and sensitive manner
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and deal with complex Human Resource situations
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst using initiative and problem-solving abilities to formulate strategies, review & refine documented techniques, precedents and guidelines for work instructions
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings at community-based events and to travel out of the Fraser Coast region for meetings/events as required
A desire to be part of a values-based, client-orientated organisation (in our case, Recipient orientated) with the ability to provide hands-on assistance to participants and charity recipient families when required
Responsibilities:
Managerial
Operate under limited direction and exercise managerial responsibility in all aspects of the position description independently
Responsible for executive decision-making, exercising judgment, delegation of authority and providing expert advice
Ensure familiarity with the organisation’s obligations under relevant legislation including but not limited to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and regulations & Privacy Act 1988
Manage the organisations allocated budgets and insurance policies
Plan, manage and organise own work and work of team members
Plan, prioritise and manage own and team members workloads to meet deadlines and juggle competing demands working in a fast paced and flexible environment within the time available for the permanent-part time position
Provide extensive support and guidance to staff, committee’s and volunteers along with the assistance of the RFAC Board
Communicate operational outcomes to the RFAC Board
Provide effective written and verbal communications, prepare reports and assessments
Ensure structures and procedures implemented include an innovation culture
Ensure that any complaints are handled appropriately by assessing the issue and, where necessary, delegating the complaint handling to an appropriate employee or Board member
Lodge the Annual Information Statement to the ACNC (due annually by 31st January (annually) and maintain accurate Members/Directors Records as required
Strategic Direction
Ensure operational procedures that impact on the activities of the organisation are implemented
Ensure policies and procedures of the organisation are developed, maintained and adhered to
Establish programs and work practices within the organisation to provide assistance to employees and volunteers to complete the tasks required in the employees/volunteers job descriptions
Contribute to the control and co-ordination of major work initiatives
Negotiate matters on behalf of the organisation to align with strategic goals
Exercise managerial control, involving the planning, direction, and evaluation of services
Support the organisation with its growth and development and ensure appropriate resources
Marketing & Communications
Develop, manage and direct execution of the organisations’ marketing and communications plans
Media co-ordinating and media spokesperson
Utilise traditional media and digital platforms, social media channels and websites to engage with community and corporate stakeholders
Develop and maintain media, marketing and communications related procedures manual
Finance, Sponsorships & Fundraising
Work with RFAC Treasurer to prepare RFAC budget submissions for Board approval
Work with the DDFC Treasurer to prepare Dunga Derby event budget submissions for Board approval
Identify and manage new opportunities and funding streams
Research, identify and establish new funding streams, grant or partnership opportunities to generate additional revenue
Co-ordinate and manage Raffle for a Cause Art Unions
Development and promotion of Corporate and Event Sponsorship packages (for and with Board approval)
Engagement and onboarding of Corporate & Event Sponsors
Maintenance of Sponsor relationships and communications including preparation of end of period reports on sponsorship deliverables
Present and distribute Rally Angels information, including engaging with community groups, businesses, and clubs
Engagement and on boarding of Rally Angels
Planning and organising Rally Angel related events
Communicating with Rally Angels including preparation and distribution of quarterly newsletters
General
Maintenance of all role related data, files, and forms
Be an integral part of a community minded purpose driven team focused on the RFAC vision and values
Maintain a harmonious and courteous attitude towards Recipients, Sponsors, Teams, Volunteers, decision makers, staff, and the community.
Any other tasks as required or directed by the RFAC Board
Reporting
Reports directly to the RFAC Board
Attend Rally for a Cause Board meetings
Preparation of monthly operations report for the Board
Fortnightly timesheets to be submitted
Success Measures
Works with limited direction from the Board, except when outside their delegation of authority as directed
Decisions made in the best interest of the organisation
Revenue/income targets
Adherence to RFAC Board and Dunga Derby Committee budgets
High retention rates of Corporate & Event Sponsors
Rally for a Cause meets all legal requirements, where possible, with the assistance of the RFAC Board
Contributions towards continuous improvements and innovations in line with the RFAC strategic goals
Ensure appropriate work practices are implemented and, where possible, provide support and guidance to staff and volunteers to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation
Demonstrated effective leadership to meet the needs of the stakeholders and funding bodies
Provided comprehensive monthly reports to the Board as directed
Team player that has contributed in a positive and enthusiastic way to the RFAC culture, vision, and values; fun, driven, community minded, respectful, integrity
Work Conditions
Salaried annual Full Time position
Membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA)
Workplace as directed by the RFAC Board
Twice Monthly travel to the Sunshine Coast as a minimum
Attendance at RFAC Board, Dunga Derby Executive Meetings evening monthly meetings (equates to 1 a fortnight)
Attendance at working group & sub-committee meetings and Dunga Derby related events as required (on a volunteer basis)
Annual performance reviews with Rally for a Cause Board
