We are currently seeking a skilled Geologist Digital Orebody to enhance our Technical Services team in Perth. As a direct report to the Manager Digital Orebody, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of resource geologists, database administrators, and data scientists. Your role will involve sophisticated geological interpretation and orebody modelling, transforming data into actionable knowledge. Your contributions will yield critical insights that will inform and optimise our Planning, Mining, and Processing operations.
Duties:
- Acquire and effectively disseminate a detailed understanding of the Roy Hill orebody, including comprehensive data analysis, ore delineation practices, and the application of intermediate to advanced interpretation and modelling techniques.
- Assist in the routine updates of the geological model, ensuring thorough data verification, accurate geological interpretation, and the development of dependable geological models.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for the Digital Orebody Team and provide substantial support to the Technical Services department, with a focus on areas such as drilling, geology, geological modelling, and introductory geometallurgy.
Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences or a related field, with a solid background in mining geology and a commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement.
- Experience in the field of resource evaluation, with practical experience in exploration and drilling, a basic knowledge of geological modelling is desirable.
- A strong understanding of iron ore deposits and their geology, with an appreciation for their impact on Grade Control, Mining, and Processing operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and resolve moderately complex issues.
- Experience with Python programming is preferred, with a strong interest in further developing these skills for advanced geological data analysis and modelling.
