Job description

We are seeking a geophysical application analyst to join Geophysical Applications Division of Exploration Applications Services Department.

The Geophysical Applications Division (GAD) core responsibilities include support of a large user base in Exploration with wide range of geoscience applications, technologies and solutions spanning the whole upstream spectrum from Exploration to Development. As Oil and Gas exploration in Saudi Arabia has moved to higher levels of complexity and more challenging frontiers, GAD is committed as ever to acquire and develop state of the art technologies and to hire the best-in-class geoscientists to meet the growing energy demand and achieving net zero emissions by 2060 as strategized by the 2030 vision of Saudi Arabia.

As a geoscientist working in GAD, you will be involved in developing workflows that integrates multidisciplinary upstream data utilizing mainstream G&G software platforms, such as AspenTechs Paradigm and Schlumbergers Omega among multiple other specialized software. You will work closely with exploration and development geophysicists leveraging an in-depth experience in industry-leading Geophysical software to conduct advanced seismic processing, inversion and imaging including rock-physics analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommend and conducts studies on the extension of computing technology into profitable areas of Geophysical
  • Processing and Interpretation technical activities. In conjunction with Exploration customer representatives, determines opportunities for computer assistance.
  • Prepare proposals for higher management on Geophysical Processing systems projects.
  • Endorse on technical applications where initial study has determined a high degree of operational feasibility is involved.
  • Initiate and conducts continuous research into advanced systems concepts and latest developments in techniques and applications pertaining to Geophysical Processing systems.
  • Maintain close liaison with U.S. Company representatives on availability of programming systems which they have developed that may be of interest to Company.
  • Participate in activities of technical societies and keeps abreast of advancements in Geological/Geophysical mapping, modelling and data display techniques applicable to the area of organizational responsibility.
  • Advise on internal department work procedures to promote increased productivity and efficiencies.
  • Apply best practices to achieve collaborative disciplined and well-governed work environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelors degree in Geosciences, HPC, or related field. An MSc or PhD degree in geosciences is also desirable.
  • Have extensive recent industry experience working on geoscience projects, studies and operations.
  • Have an intensive knowledge in a wide range of geological and geophysical disciplines such as exploration seismic processing, inversion and imaging including rock-physics and other geoscience-related disciplines. Specialization in few sub disciplines is advantageous.
  • Have Mastery level knowledge and experience in GPU development experience including porting a high compute intensive geophysical algorithm (i.e. depth migration) onto GPU architecture. As well as, experience with seismic processing applications and High Performance Computing. In addition, Programming skills ( C/C++, Fortran & Python), GPU acceleration and Unix/Linux background.
  • Have knowledge to deal with 2D/ and 3D seismic data, and conducting velocity models, seismic attributes, inversion, spectral decomposition, AVO, AVA, and well familiar with quantitative and pre-stack seismic imaging.
  • Willing to Relocate to Saudi Arabia
  • Currently Living/Working in Australia or New Zealanad

  • Short-term Disability: In the event you are unable to work due to illness or injury, short-term disability income benefits are provided. The benefit is 30 days full pay and 60 days at three-quarters pay, in any one year period.
  • Death Benefit: Company pays an ex-gratia death benefit equal to 24 months base pay if death is from an industrial accident and 12 months base pay if death is non-industrial related.
