The City is currently seeking to appoint a GIS Specialist to join our dynamic Information Management team at the City of Fremantle and seize the opportunity to make a significant impact as our new GIS Specialist. At the City, we rely on ArcGIS ESRi as our go-to geospatial solution. As the Subject Matter Expert, you will take the helm, overseeing the administration and maintenance of our GIS infrastructure, as well as the continuous development and refinement of our Work Force Applications. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing comprehensive training, support and strategic system planning to our dedicated team of end users.

Key responsibilities include:- Maintain the corporate Geographic Information System (GIS) with relevant new data and ensure the central data store is operating in peak performance.
- Produce high quality maps and reports in accordance with corporate standards.
- Provide specialist expertise in the creation, integration and manipulation of spatial data and provide analysis of these products.
- Extract, transform, load data from various SQL Server tables for integration into the GIS.
- Maintain and create scripts to automate data transformations and repetitive tasks.
- Contribute to the development of a corporate mobile field data collection program.
- Provide GIS help-desk support as required.
- Prepare and provide training to relevant key stakeholders.
- Actively contribute to the team culture, ensuring high productivity, ongoing capability development and technological innovation.
- Develop long-term business plans, standards and procedures for the corporate GIS.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to provide process improvements through workflows, apps and digital transformation within the GIS platform.
- Be the subject matter expert in the creation and development of the City’s 3D model.
- Undertake other duties relevant to the position as required by the Business Solutions and Development Team Leader
To be considered for this position, you will need:
• Competent data querying proficiencies, particularly using SQL and SQL Spatial.
• Advanced knowledge and experience working with GIS data formats and geometries, including 2D and 3D data.
• Advanced analytical skills with proven knowledge of GIS, remote sensing and problem-solving principles.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to confidently and clearly articulate complex issues and concepts.
• An understanding of programming principles and a working knowledge of a programming language, i.e. Python, JavaScript, etc.
• An understanding of IT infrastructure systems and how they relate to a central GIS data store.
• Advanced experience using ESRI's ArcGIS suite of products, especially ArcGIS Server, Portal, CityEngine ESRI's JavaScript APL
• 5 years' experience in a GIS role and tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
