About the role
Join our team as a GIS Specialist, where you'll play a crucial role in delivering specialised geospatial services to ensure the accurate and efficient recording, maintenance, and provision of asset information. As part of this dynamic position, you'll collaborate with the Manager, Senior GIS Technicians, and GIS Technicians to support the execution of the Jemena Electricity Networks works program while upholding the highest standards of data quality within our GIS system.

Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Digital and project teams to improve systems and ensure ongoing enhancements.
- Offer technical guidance to the wider business on a daily basis.
- Handle data collection, editing, formatting, and analysis to maintain efficient geospatial and non-geospatial environments in line with policies and standards.
- Provide data management, network modelling, cartographic, and spatial analysis services to the broader business.
- Meet established deadlines for delivering specialised GIS services.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships through direct communication with key Jemena personnel, particularly within Asset and Operations and Zinfra teams.
A little about you:
Ideally, you will possess strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a continuous improvement approach, coupled with experience in data management and spatial reasoning abilities. Additionally, holding tertiary qualifications in Geospatial Science or a related field, and being able to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences will be required.
You’ll have a background in utilising GIS within utilities, exposure to supporting effective data management initiatives, and guiding transformative processes, all with a focus on detail to business practices.
You will also bring with you:
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS or a related discipline.
- Sound data management, cartographic and spatial reasoning skills.
- Demonstrated information management knowledge and experience.
- Excellent computer skills, with a sound and diverse knowledge of information systems.
- Understanding of electrical systems used to deliver energy to customers.
