About the Role

As the Global Head of Product & Innovation, you will be responsible for developing and executing global product strategy to optimise the entire product lifecycle across all categories, identify product development opportunities in collaboration with the Engineering and R&D team including completely greenfield category development, optimise pricing & profitability, drive revenue growth globally and enhance the overall customer experience. You will lead, inspire & develop a growing team of Product and category managers as well as working hand-in-hand with the Marketing & Digital team to execute best practice product launches & equip sales teams with product knowledge (including global teams). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and lead a global commercialised product management/ “stage-gate” strategy for outdoor and travel gear, that will meet the overall business objectives
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
  • Manage a diverse and appealing product range that meets the unique needs and desires of Outdoor Adventure & 4WD enthusiasts.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from product selection and introduction to inventory management and clearance strategies.
  • Monitor and optimise inventory levels to minimise stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Set and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Gather and use insights to make data-driven decisions for category & product improvement.
  • Ensure that all products comply with relevant regulations and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to uphold company and brand standards across diverse markets
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Industrial Design would also be highly valued.
  • Ideally have P&L experience, high level commercial acumen is essential as is the ability to develop strategy and execute tactically across multiple channels, export, e-Comm & B2B
  • Visionary leader who can see the opportunities and have the discipline to focus and deliver on priorities and what's important.
  • Experience in export markets will be highly regarded, particularly America & Europe/UK (ideally having managed remote or global teams)
  • Proven experience in the management of the entire product cycle ideally gained in a manufacturing environment
    • We are looking for leaders from a physical product background eg outdoor products, accessories, luggage, furniture, medical equipment, interior or lifestyle, building materials etc
    • High SKU count, product safety, plastics and metal components ideal
    • Stage gate proficiency and project management skills
    • Candidates from a services background, technology or FMCG / food and beverage will NOT be considered by the client unfortunately.
  • Ideally strong understanding of adventure and travel market trends and consumer behaviour.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Passion for adventure and travel is highly desirable.
