About the Role
Reporting to the Global Head of Operations, the Global Privacy Officer will monitor compliance and data practices across all Regions to ensure organisational compliance with the relevant privacy regulations. The GPO will be responsible for establishing a regional accountability structure, staff training, data protection impact assessments, and internal audits, and will collaborate with the Global Head of IT to advise on Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and mitigate risk. The GPO will also serve as the escalation contact for supervisory authorities and individuals whose data is processed by the organisation.
Oversee the creation and implementation of a strategic privacy program across OneSchool Global (OSG) to ensure effective privacy practices that minimise risk and protect confidential information held whilst assisting the ecosystem in achieving its objectives.
Produce a privacy maturity assessment for each Region (where relevant) and assist on a strategy for increasing maturity where Regions are below required threshold for effective risk mitigation.
Implement measures and a privacy governance framework to manage data use, including developing templates for data collection, assisting with data mapping, data loss prevention and vendor management reviews.
Work cooperatively with Regional Privacy Officers in advising on responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs) and access to restricted information where appropriate.
Work with key internal stakeholders to review projects and related data to ensure compliance with local data privacy laws, and where necessary, complete and advise on privacy impact assessments.
Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for the lead supervisory authority across OSG’s multiple jurisdictions and other data protection authorities on all data protection related matters.
Serve as the escalation point of the Regional Privacy Officers.
Review vendor contracts (including Model Clauses) and consents needed to implement projects in partnership with OSG’s Procurement and Information Security functions, and ensuring filing requirements with local regulators are achieved.
Manage and conduct ongoing reviews of OSG's privacy governance framework.
Monitor changes to privacy laws across the jurisdictions in which OSG operates.
Set standards and review policies and procedures globally that meet the requirements in countries of operation.
Coordinate and conduct data privacy audits.
Collaborate with the Information Security function(s) to raise staff, students and volunteer awareness of data privacy and security issues and providing training on the subject matter.
Collaborate with the Information Security function(s) to maintain records of all data assets and exports.
Maintain a data security incident management plan to ensure timely remediation of incidents including impact assessments, security breach response, complaints, claims or notifications, and respond to subject access requests (SARs).
Provide advice on how OSG’s IT systems and procedures should comply with all relevant data privacy and protection law, regulation, and policy (including in relation to the retention and destruction of data).
Serve on ecosystem advisory panel (GAP ARC) as the representative for OSG.
About You
Law degree from an accredited law school (Required).
Hold either Data Protection and/or Privacy certification such as, CIPP, CIPT, ISEB, etc.
Strong knowledge of European Union (EU) data privacy and data protection regulation, and/or other major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation worldwide
Experience in a Privacy role, within a compliance, legal, audit and/or risk function.
Experience in developing policy and compliance training.
Experience in the Education Sector highly beneficial.
