In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of frameworks that support best practice governance.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGAs the Senior Governance Officer (Privacy), you will be the primary contact for privacy matters and will play a critical role in ensuring the practical, effective, and efficient governance of the organisation.
You will:
- develop and implement a robust privacy management framework and privacy management plan
- provide privacy advice in relation to projects that may have an impact on an individual’s personal information
- support the business with Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTA) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
- support the Governance team with the implementation of the governance frameworks that support best practice and fulfil our legislative obligations
- assist in the development and review of policies, communications, and reports
- assist with the coordination of the entity’s compliance obligations including external reporting obligations (e.g. Annual/Quarterly Reporting, Senate Standing Orders)
- assist with responding to escalated cases (e.g. FOI, PID, privacy, fraud) where required
- collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness and provide advice on governance and compliance
- build strong relationships across the organisation to ensure understanding and distributed responsibility for compliance with governance obligations
- monitor and report on the effectiveness of governance frameworks and identify opportunities for improvement
- develop and deliver training to support a culture of ethical conduct and compliance, enhance organisational capability and to ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
As an experienced Senior Governance Officer (Privacy), you will have extensive governance experience in a government context or complex organisation. You will be a natural communicator who is confident engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders utilising a pragmatic and positive approach.
Your background will demonstrate your:
- comprehensive understanding of governance principles and practices, as well as relevant legislation and regulations in a government context (preferred)
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- effective leadership and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships across the organisation, with the ability to influence others
- superior written communication skills, including preparing executive briefings and governance documents
- sound communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice to a range of stakeholders
- ability to proactively set priorities and objectives and manage your own workload to deliver results within agreed timeframes
- capability to apply legislation into operational practices in a practical and fit for purpose manner
- proactive approach to initiate improvements to deliver accurate and timely governance services to all stakeholders
- ability to develop and deliver training programs and reporting streams
- strong commitment to ethical conduct and compliance.
Ideally, you will have a bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Governance, Law, or equivalent tertiary qualifications or demonstrated workplace experience.
