Who are we?
Catalina Club is an award-winning community-orientated and values-based organisation situated in Batemans Bay, the heart of beautiful South Coast of NSW. Our vision is to be a leading, enjoyable, quality, inclusive, golfing and hospitality destination.
Club Catalina is a medium sized registered Club on the beautiful South Coast of NSW, only 2 hours from Canberra and 3.5 hours from Sydney. We have over 1000 golf members with member competitions five days a week. We are committed to maintaining our position as the golfing destination of choice in the area. Our 27-hole Championship course is beautifully presented and well maintained by our turf maintenance team and sees over 70,000 rounds of golf per year. We have a fleet of 50 golf carts with the Golf Shop being well appointed with facilities for equipment hire and repair.
Our large Clubhouse serves 10,000 social members and a very popular visitor trade. It houses the Catalina Restaurant, Cafe, two bars, large lounges and children’s play area. It has a spacious gaming area, and there are large alfresco lounge areas. The Club is already highly regarded for its social activities.
There has been substantial clubhouse and course renovations with further major works being planned. Recently the Club has undergone a full fit out of a state-of-the-art irrigation and dosing system supported by a 3-row rainbird IC system. Further to this the Club this year will be hosting a televised regional NSW Open qualifier which will allow the successful candidate to showcase their ability to a viewership.
What are we looking for?
We have a rare and exciting opportunity offering plenty of variety and scope for an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to join our Senior Leadership Team. You will oversee all aspects of the care, maintenance and presentation of the course now and of the future, and be responsible for bringing a fresh perspective to leadership of the course maintenance team. The successful applicant will be aligned with our values of growth, respect, integrity, teamwork & trust (GRITT), and contribute as a member of a collaborative leadership team, and report to the Assistant General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will be:
Development and implementation of a comprehensive Golf Course management and maintenance program to constantly improve the course, club grounds, maintenance facility and safety programs
Lead, encourage and manage the course maintenance team to continually improve productivity and efficient work practices
Develop costings and a program for proposed course development work
To continuously improve and maintain the course in the highest quality condition
To identify strategies and actions required to meet the course management objectives
Oversee the care and maintenance of the turf, trees & gardens on the club grounds
Manage water usage & irrigation systems for greens, tees & fairways
Ensure compliance with safe operation & maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
Maintain records and complete required reporting

Key Criteria
We are seeking a candidate who meets the following criteria:
Minimum of three years’ experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or similar role
Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems and pest control
Sound professional, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Enthusiastic, honest, reliable and highly organised with a great attitude
Keen eye for attention to detail
Time management skills, ability to multi-task, prioritise, and be highly organised
Self-motivated leader with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment
Proficiency in using course maintenance equipment and technology
Understanding of and commitment to environmental sustainability if Golf Course management
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth, training & development
Knowledge of best practice Golf Course management practices and techniques
Consultative approach to working with others towards a collective goal
Proven experience in communication, implementation and execution of a strategic plan
Desirable skills & experience:
ASTMA Sports Turf Manager Certification (CSTM)
Experience with Golf Course project management
Experience with Golf Course construction, master planning and redesign would be highly regarded
