A rare and rewardingopportunity exists for a highly capable individual to join our busyGovernance and Legal department at the City of Kwinana. This is afull-time position reporting to the Manager Governance and Legaland working alongside a superstar team. The successful candidatewill be responsible for providing high-quality legal and governancesupport across a range of areas relating to the City’s corebusiness, with particular focus in supporting the areas ofgovernance, risk, procurement and property relatedmatters.

WhatYou’ll Need To make an impact asour new Governance and Legal Support Officer you willhave…

  • Demonstrated experiencein local government governance, risk and compliance relatedfunctions.
  • Familiarity withinterpreting legislation with a good understanding of thelegislative framework governing Local Governments in WesternAustralia.
  • Demonstrated ability toundertake research, problem solve complex issues, and developclear and concise briefing notes and discussion papers withsupporting recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experiencein drafting and reviewing legal documents such as leases andcontracts.
  • Highlydeveloped communication skills, with the ability to workcollaboratively across the organisation to build strong workingrelationships.
  • Abilityto autonomously manage competing demands and meet stricttimeframes in a busy environment.
  • Strongcomputer literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suiteof products and web-based software.
  • Demonstrated experiencein developing policies and local laws (desirable).
  • Aqualification in law or working towards(desirable).
  • CurrentDriver’s Licence.
