The Department:
The Pharmacy service operates over 5 sites within Northern Health and has a strong vision to deliver exceptional, evidenced-based care to our patients – with a clear focus on research, medication safety and clinical excellence. We are currently undergoing a large period of expansion and specialisation, creating exciting opportunities for individuals keen to challenge themselves and progress their professional knowledge and skills.
The Role:
A full time, permanent opportunity exists for a Grade 2 Pharmacist to join the team at Northern Health. This role will cover 10 days (80 hours) per fortnight – Monday to Friday 0800-1700 (weekend work on a roster basis) and is a rotational position.
The role of the Clinical Pharmacist is an integral part of our growing team, which comprises of over 100 pharmacists and close to 50 technicians. The successful applicant will participate in a highly functioning team, providing a service covering a wide-range of clinical specialties, dispensary, outpatient clinics, education and stewardship programs
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high quality pharmaceutical care and optimising pharmacotherapy to improve patient care.
- Supporting Clinical Pharmacy Team leaders to enhance team-building and excellence
- Mentoring and supervising pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns and undergraduate students, as well as providing education to staff from other disciplines
- Providing pharmacy services to ward areas and dispensary
- Participating in research and quality improvement activities

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A recognised degree in Pharmacy from an approved tertiary institution and hold full current AHPRA registration
- Clinical experience is preferred.
- Ability to produce a service of excellence by use of Quality Improvement techniques and be familiar with National Standards Accreditation requirements
- Previous exposure to a broad range of pharmacy services in the general hospital field.
- Good time management and organisational skills are a must.
