The acute physiotherapy service is organised into five functional streams, namely: Intensive Care, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, PAN (Progressive Illness, Aged Care and Neurosciences), and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site, with the latter being based at the Sandringham site. The physiotherapy service provides acute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: intensive care, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, burns, lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation, neurology and neurosurgery, infectious diseases, haematology/oncology, general medicine, haemophilia and emergency.Victorian Adult Burns ServiceThe Victorian Adult Burns Service (VABS) plays a significant role within The Alfred Hospital's range of services and is the state- wide provider of burns care for all adults with complex major burn injuries in Victoria, as well as many people with less severe burns. It offers clinical leadership in all aspects of adult burn care and supports The Alfred Hospital's role as one of the two adult trauma centres serving Victoria. The Alfred admits over 300 burn patients and reviews over 1000 outpatients each year with the service providing acute care, rehabilitation, ongoing outpatient care and secondary reconstructive surgery while supporting consultation and education services across Victoria.The Position SummaryThe Grade 2 (Burns) Physiotherapist will provide patient centred care to acute and subacute patient within the Victorian Adult Burns Service in the inpatient and outpatient setting at Alfred Health. This position will be predominately based in the outpatient burns service. You will be responsible for the ongoing development and provision of physiotherapy service to the units, and programs assigned to the physiotherapist, and for the education of physiotherapy students and the supervision and professional development of Grade 1 staff assigned to their units.Skills and Qualifications RequiredRegistered to practice in the state of Victoria via AHPRADemonstrated advanced knowledge and skills in the provision of physiotherapy services in the relevant areas of physiotherapyDemonstrated ability to plan and manage a caseload, including the co-ordination of other staffDemonstrated ability to supervise students and Grade 1 StaffStaff Benefits
