Job description

Cobram Estate Olives (CBO) is searching for an Graduate Accountant with a strong attention to detail and can-do attitude to join the Finance team. This full-time role will provide accounting and finance support across all departments allowing you to work cross-functionally learning the business and being able to make a real impact.

The Role

The role will be based at CBO’s head office in Lara and report to the Assistant Controller. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following activities:

  • Assist with monthly CAPEX and Fixed Asset accounting and reporting
  • Working closely with the Financial Controller, liaising with banks to arrange asset financing
  • Process month end journals and prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support our AP & AR functions as needed – reviewing payments and liaising with AR on bank reconciliations 
  • Assist with management of bulk and finished goods inventory
  • Reconcile intercompany loans
  • Take full ownership of staff reimbursement – this occurs on a weekly basis. Training new staff members on the process and policies relating to this.
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations
  • Prepare BAS and assist with FBT preparation in conjunction with the Assistant Controller
  • Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts 
  • Maintenance of Jet and Power BI reports 
  • Business partner and support Lara production site in alongside Assistant Controller
  • Special projects on an ad-hoc basis

Skills & Experience

The role will ideally suit someone who has previous experience in a similar role, loves to problem solve and make process improvements. The successful candidate will be commercially astute coupled with the following experience and attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Business, Commerce or similar.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience within an accounting or administrative role – this can include internship experience.
  • Good understanding of general accounting principles with desire to learn more.
  • Superior attention to detail, organisational skills, and capabilities in terms of prioritising work and meeting deadlines.
  • Friendly and approachable manner to ensure effective communication with all areas of the business with a strong commitment to customer service – Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience working with the Microsoft Suite. Good Excel skills with the capacity to continue to learn and improve over time - a mindset for continuous improvement.
