We are a boutique accounting firm with our office located at Windsor, 10 minutes north of Brisbane CBD, that provides accounting and tax services for small to medium sized businesses, and individuals with investments. We also provide self-managed superannuation fund administration services.
You will work as part of our supportive and collaborative team which will build your knowledge, confidence and independence.
Over time, you will work closely with clients to meet their tax and accounting obligations and provide Small Business accounting support.
Our clients expect our team to have a high attention to detail, a strong understanding of accounting software and IT generally.
Over time, the relationships you will build with your clients will allow you to exercise your tax and accounting knowledge to effectively make decisions for your clients during preparation of their work.
Our open plan office is light and modern, with a variety of meeting spaces including desks offering sit / stand functionality. The team you will work with is supportive, collaborative and share a passion for small and medium sized businesses.
You will be degree qualified, and hold a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Commence degree or a Graduate Diploma or Masters in Professional Accounting or other equivalent.
The ability to communicate clearly (both internally with colleagues and externally with clients) in written and oral form is critical.
You will have a strong level of personal presentation and be proud of the work that you do.
The firm will pay for your professional membership fees each year, along with your CA or CPA training fees, and offers training opportunities throughout the year. You will be expected to suggest suitable training courses that will benefit your own and the team's continuing professional development and will be paid for by the firm.
The role allows for flexible working hours and career progression is available as you develop your skills and career experience.
DW Mathers & Co is a paperless office and we use software such as Xero, Karbon, Class, Hubdoc and HandiSoft to manage our clients accounting and tax needs.
Our office is relaxed yet professional - as a CA firm we have review processes that are second to none.
We are seeking a person who has a desire for a long-term opportunity with willingness to grow within the firm.
The role will include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Reconciling transactions in client accounting systems such as Xero and MYOB ensuring they are coded correctly using appropriate account classification and GST settings
- Processing employee superannuation through the Small Business Clearing House
- Preparing financial statements
- Preparing activity statements and tax returns for our individual and business clients
- Providing day to day accounting advice to our individual and business clients over time as your experience and confidence grows.
