Sitting in EnergyAustralia’s new Data Office the Graduate Data Engineer will join an experienced team of data professionals who support, build, and deploy data solutions to enable effective and efficient value realization from EnergyAustralia's data.
This is a fabulous opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their software engineering career to join an organisation with an exciting roadmap, currently executing a cloud migration and is leading and accelerating the clean energy transition with exciting initiatives across virtual power plants, EVs and solar projects. We also offer our customers carbon neutral energy at no extra cost!
The successful candidate will be supported by the team at both technical and non-technical levels so that they can develop the commercial acumen and data ecosystem familiarity to become more autonomous
Some of the incredible things you will learn along the way:
- Leverage the function's patterns for appropriate ETL/data import and interfacing mechanisms such as consumption layer databases, APIs, and caches.
- Review business requirements, create data mappings between systems, data profiling, query design, data flow design.
- Leverage DevSecOps principles utilizing CI/CD workflows for accelerated development of infrastructure components and data ingestion pipelines.
- Ensure that software development meets the highest standards and follows best practices and approaches for the solution requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment.
EnergyAustralia provides electricity, gas and new energy technology products and services to almost 2.6 million customers, that’s a lot of data to work with!
What we’re looking for:
You have a genuine curiosity and passion for data, and how it can be used to solve real-world problems. You have a desire to develop technical understanding and to sharpen your communication skills so you can explain the most intricate data ideas to anyone and everyone.
- An appetite to dive into a fast-paced environment and combine your technical skills with commercial acumen
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in IT or equivalent field
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguous problems in a structured manner
- Big data processing and query language skills such as SQL, Python, PySpark, SPARK SQL, Scala etc
- Experience with cloud platforms and building pipelines would be highly valued (but not mandatory)
