Based in Reservoir, Action Labels & Nameplates are the leading experts in full colour label printing. We manufacture custom designed labels, stickers, tags and ticket printing in any shape, size and colour for various customer applications.
About the Position/s:
We are currently seeking 2 people to join our team as Machine Operator / Graphic Artist:
- Experienced graphic arts qualification and experience in the printing industry as a machine operator, who will work as a mentor
- School leaver or someone seeking a new career direction, eager for the opportunity to learn and grow in this role, working with experienced mentors (junior award wage rates apply for this position)
These are permanent, full time positions where you will be provided with a terrific opportunity to put your exceptional graphic design skills and/or experience as a Machine Operator in printing industry into action in a highly reputable label manufacturing business.
These permanent, full time Machine Operator / Graphic Artist roles will require the successful candidates to work autonomously, as well as working collaboratively within a team, all whilst taking care of equipment and contributing to a safe, and positive workplace. The successful applicants will ensure that artwork, pre-press components and printing of jobs are completed in a timely, accurate and highly professional manner, with the goals of maximising efficiencies and meeting customer needs.
Primary duties include:
- Setting up proofs, designing/ creating artwork as per customer brief
- Stepping and setting up files for press according to the appropriate process for the digital press
- Liaising with customers regarding design work
- Operating within the programs, software, and systems in place
- Recording and reporting hours allocated to jobs in Print MIS where applicable.
- List and date all art approvals sent out and follow up with internal Sales/Customer Service staff to ensure prompt approvals are received to maintain the workflow.
- Operate Digital equipment and other machinery used in the production of labels.
- Cleaning work areas, equipment and machinery
- Organization of raw materials, finished products, and packed items
- Sorting and storage of tools
- Cleaning of factory areas
- Moving finished goods to the quality check area
- Work with production and estimation to develop best-practice production methods.
- Taking initiative in activities related to optimising production outcomes as may be appropriate from time to time
About You:
Our ideal candidates will be proficient at designing for a wide range or printing processes, preferably Digital, (preferable, not essential). Along with your experience as a Machine Operator / Graphic Design professional, you will also bring a positive, enthusiastic attitude, being open to continuous improvement and self-development. As a team player, you will enjoy a supportive and fun workplace environment.

To be successful in these roles you will have:
- Experienced in Graphic Design and /or Machine Operation, preferably in the Digital Printing industry (mentor role)
- The confidence and motivation to give 100% every day
- Knowledge of Pre-Press, Colour management & Digital workflow
- Software Skills - Adobe Creative Suite - Especially Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to manage daily workflow and prioritise jobs accordingly
- Be quality focused with an eye for detail
- Strong self-belief within a team environment
- The willingness and ability to learn new skills
- Exceptional communication
- Outstanding written and computer literacy skills
- Strong time management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task
