About the role
This full-time Graphic Designer role will apply contemporary design thinking in order to fulfill the needs of a diverse client base of many sector-leading organisations from State Government agencies to education, the arts and culture through to retail and resources.
The role requires ability to work collaboratively on creative projects with a team of junior and senior designers as well as the Creative Director. Each day will be different, you need to be adaptable and capable of applying design thinking and strategy to produce physical as well as digital solutions.
The role is supported day to day by the design team as well as the Design Manager, Account Managers and Directors.
The role is based on-site in Perth CBD with coffee and cafes nearby. Perth train station, shopping and restaurants are a quick 8 mins walk away, and closer to the office, McIver Station is a 2 mins stroll.
Responsibilities
- Prepare creative design concepts from a brief through to finished art using design, web or Microsoft software.
- Apply design and layout techniques to corporate print collateral to a high standard using advanced type styles for efficient creation of multi-page documents.
- Manage the delivery of their workload and contributes to delivery of design team workload.
- Produce high-quality visual concepts from brief then present for review and amendment.
- Other work as required from to support the goals of the design team.
Skills required
- Self-starter who can contribute original ideas and absorb direction quickly and strives for consistency in brand and design.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a creative team.
- Is confident delivering in a deadline focused environment juggling multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Extensive Typesetting knowledge - character and paragraph styles is a must.
- Experience working in large projects with multiple moving parts.
Experience and Qualifications
- To be eligible for permanent appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status or a visa with entitlement to live and work in Australia.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar design role with a strong typesetting background.
- Tertiary Graphic Design qualification or similar.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (to articulate your awesome ideas).
- Expert knowledge of typography, advanced typesetting skills are mandatory.
- Expert knowledge of graphic design skills using Adobe suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, and applying content to templates as well as design software.
