The Role
In this role, our Graphic Designer is responsible for creating visually appealing and innovative designs for various packaging formats, managing the Roland printer, and collaborating closely with clients and suppliers to ensure high, quality deliverables.
Key responsibilities and tasks in this role include:
- Conceptualize and execute customized packaging designs across various formats for diverse clientele and internal projects.
- Generate custom dielines and templates for accurate packaging production.
- Operate and oversee the Roland printer to ensure optimal print quality and efficiency.
- Prepare print-ready artwork for press and production, adhering to industry standards and specifications.
- Collaboration with suppliers, facilitating artwork proofing and necessary approvals.
- Creative development of Logos and Branding
- Develop digital artwork suitable for various applications, including websites, social media platforms, and EDMs/newsletters
- Design across a variety of other channels including marketing collateral, promotional material, internal and external communications.
- Content Creation: produce engaging and compelling video & photo content including filming, editing and post-production tasks.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- A tertiary qualification in Design and/or relevant industry experience
- High level of proficiency in layout, scale and typography
- Strong understanding of design principles, print production processes, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment
- Impeccable attention to detail with responsibility for ensuring your work is without errors – have a keen eye and are comfortable to proof-check what you design
- Precision in artwork set-up and file-saving in correct formats for print and digital projects
- Maintaining consistency of brand identity
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal, who can contribute ideas as well as take direction
- Self-motivated to work autonomously and manage time efficiently
- Demonstrated experience through portfolio of relevant work
- Understanding and interest in trends in Design and Packaging, as well as popular culture
DESIRABLE, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
- Product photography experience
- Experience with Content Creation, Photography, social media
- Experience with EDM’s
- Experience with FMCG, Retail, E-tail, Skincare and/or Beauty
- Understanding of digital design for websites (basic coding/HTML/CSS/Shopify) and social media
- Motion Graphics or Animation experience (Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Copywriting skills will be looked upon favourably – we’d love to see some clever and witty words from you.
SOFTWARE
- Adobe Creative Suite – strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills are a must!
- Using Microsoft Office in a PC environment
