The John Flynn College is an independent Residential College at James Cook University in Townsville with a proud tradition of providing a caring and supportive environment for 250 young adults living and studying at James Cook University. Qualifications & experience
- 3 years experience in facilities management, yard maintenance and general gardening
- Fit, energetic individual who loves working outside
- A trade qualification is desirable but not essential
- Drivers license essential
- Commitment to safety and demonstrated experience in the safe use of plant, equipment and power tools
Tasks & responsibilities
- The Grounds and Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day to day maintenance requirements, grounds work, general cleaning and bulk rubbish removal operations of The John Flynn College.
- General repairs and Maintenance, including minor works such as patching and painting, and reactive and preventative maintenance as directed by the Deputy Principal
- Minor Plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing taps, installing new fixtures (sinks, toilets seats).
- Minor repairs to buildings as requested such as changing light bulbs or lubricating locks, repairing fly screen, replacing air conditioners etc.
- Maintain and develop the College grounds, including mowing of grass, weeding, planting and Maintenance of gardens. Apply fertilisers, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides as required.
- Oversee the cleaning of the college grounds i.e. leaf blowing, cleaning student areas and general grounds of rubbish and debris and ensure the general tidiness of the Grounds and property
- Routine movement of linen from delivery point to decks and back to delivery point
