The Australian Golf Club is a private member’s club located 6km from the heart of the Sydney CBD. Inaugurated in 1882 The Australian Golf Club holds the honour of being the oldest golf club in the Commonwealth. 

The Club holds a special place in Australian golf folklore, having hosted the Australian Open on 22 occasions, including the inaugural event in 1904 and the most recent in 2023. The Jack Nicklaus signature design course was redeveloped in 2013, overseen by the Golden Bear himself.

Members of the club and their guests have access to an 18-hole championship golf course, an award-winning driving range and state-of-the-art teaching facility, a short game practice area including a 1,700m² chipping green, 2 synthetic tennis courts, and the iconic architecturally designed clubhouse.

Our members hold pride in being a part of this wonderful facility, and our staff seek to honour its legend by delivering daily excellence.

The Australian Golf Club is seeking a Casual Grounds person.  This person will be an integral part of a dynamic golf course maintenance team.  You will need to be an enthusiastic and effective communicator aiming to achieve the best playing surfaces for the membership on a daily basis. 

Suitable applicants for the Grounds Person role should hold or have the ability to gain:

• Knowledge or understanding of the game of golf.
• Experience working in similar role.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to learn new skills and adapt to new processes quickly.
• The desire to work in an outdoor environment.

Work Schedule:

Monday                 5:15am to 10:15am

Tuesday                 5:15am to 10:15am

Wednesday           5:15am to 10:15am

Thursday               5:15am to 10:15am

Friday                     5:15am to 10:15am

Saturday               5:00am to 8:45am

Sunday                   5:00am to 9:30am

There is an opportunity to work more hours Monday - Friday during busy periods of maintenance at the club. 

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to all daily golf course maintenance and projects.
• Work with a high attention to detail.
• Participate in rotating weekend roster.
