About the Role
A varied and interesting role where you will be involved in multiple facets of the business. This is a true all-rounder role – encompassing financial, management, tax and systems accounting. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the position is supported by an Accounts Officer and other support staff.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Management/Financial Accounting
- Ensuring month end reporting and other corporate reporting requirements are achieved on a timely basis.
- Internal management reporting.
- Overseeing monthly allocation and recharges process including intercompany reconciliations.
- General ledger reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Processing of journals.
- Assisting with annual budgeting process and monthly analysis.
- Assist with cash flow monitoring, reporting & forecasting.
- Assist with development of accounting models and process improvements where required.
- Assist Group Financial Controller with year-end processes.
- Assist with yearly statutory accounts and year-end audit with external auditors.
- Drafting technical accounting papers.
- Oversee the maintenance of the Fixed Assets Register.
Tax
- Assist with statutory and tax compliance obligations (e.g. income tax, GST, FBT, Division 7A) at both the corporate and family level.
- Review and lodgement of monthly Business Activity Statements.
Equities
- Maintenance of the equities portfolio including monthly market value revaluations, recording distributions, returns of capital and calculating returns.
Systems
- Assistance in maintaining the integrity of all finance systems, ensuring user rights, profiles, access, and workflows are appropriately configured and maintained.
- Ownership of system upgrades and maintenance – leading testing and system upgrades to latest finance software releases.
- Supporting wider finance system development projects.
- Utilising existing knowledge to improve functionality and improve system usage and configuration.
Other
- Other ad-hoc accounting / finance tasks as required by the Group Financial Controller and Executive team.
What we are looking for:
- At least 5 years experience in the accounting field, with 2 years experience at the Accountant level; however experienced Assistant Accountants will be considered.
- Strong equities experience and an understanding of investment markets is a bonus.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of business process and internal controls related to accounting / finance functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse workload and liaise with multiple stakeholders.
- An understanding and interest in ERP systems.
